The CEO of 3M said Friday his company is maximizing its efforts to get respirator masks to U.S. health workers fighting the coronavirus, pushing back on what he called President Donald Trumps absurd suggestion that the manufacturer was not doing all it could.
Nothing is further from the truth, CEO Mike Roman said on CNBCs Squawk on the Street after being read Trumps tweet slamming 3M after seeing what they were doing with their Masks.

I would advise him to turn off the stupid TV. Nothing undermines confidence in a leader more than knowing that he watches TV and then reacts impulsively to whatever he sees on it.
If I understand this 3M is sending the masks to 7 or 8 distributors. The distributors are filling previous orders first which includes foreign countries. IMHO 3M should sell directly to the government at cost.
The US put down a legal order in Thailand today....grabbing a whole bunch of 3M masks. These had a purchase order going back to the city of Berlin (needless to say, they are fairly peeved because they’ve already paid for them).
It would appear that 3M is trying to exercise it’s international status and make international sales....while pretending to be a US company. Once the DPA went down....every product they produce...is required by the US (even if they make them beyond the border).
“If I understand this 3M is sending the masks to 7 or 8 distributors. The distributors are filling previous orders first which includes foreign countries. IMHO 3M should sell directly to the government at cost.”
I suspect that may now, finally, happen.
ok, boomer.
If he doesn’t watch TV his only source of information will be the liberals at the CIA. How did that turn out for Bush?
I love Trump but I do think he “shoots from the hip” too much. Maybe 3M was filling orders contracted before all this went down. I don’t know.
"The man who doesn't watch TV is uninformed. The man who DOES watch TV is misinformed."
The fact that 3M was filling foreign orders at all while the U.S. has a shortage is appalling.
Peter Navarro pointed out yesterday during the White House press briefing that there were "anomalies" in the supply chain specific to medical supplies. No doubt in my mind that 3M was one of them.
As for 3M, President Trump did the right thing. Many will complain about his use of Twitter to communicate a "threat" ... IMO that threat was needed against 3M and the American public has every right to know which American companies are fully working to protect the American people and which are not.
My opinion, of course.
“...It would appear that 3M is trying to exercise its international status and make international sales....while pretending to be a US company. Once the DPA went down....every product they produce...is required by the US (even if they make them beyond the border)....”
I believe you’re right on target with that assessment.
They’re a huge globalist international entity while “pretending” to be a US company. They got “beotch-slapped” and don’t like it...too bad.
Sure, Millie.
OH MY SIDES!!!
“IMHO 3M should sell directly to the government at cost.”
And what does cost become when there is only one end buyer of a product who happens to be a buyer that can print money?
What happens to the prices of products that 3M has to purchase from other companies in order to make these masks?
Sorry, but it is his responsibility to know first-hand (if possible) what information is being fed to the public, including misinformation.
Some gov guy from FL was saying that “foriegners” (probably chinese) were showing up to 3M factories with cash, preempting US orders.
And I'm sure you also realize that 3M is headquartered in Minnesota.
And I'm sure you also realize that 3M is one of the largest companies in America and one of the largest employers in two sectors that Trump has been promoting since he began his 2016 campaign (mining and manufacturing).
So please explain to me how it does President Trump -- and the rest of America, by extension -- any good to have the CEO of 3M getting on an NBC/Concast business network and calling him out as an ignoramus.
How hard would it have been for President Trump to call the guy before publicly humiliating his company?
