Glad to see Patrick Morrissey leading for gov. Moore Capito is part of a poisonous political family.

Disappointed but not surprised to see Jim Justice leading for Senate.

Disappointed but not surprised to see Riley Moore leading for US House District 2.

Does West Virginia even have a Democrat party anymore?

Yes ... there are a handful of rats in the State House. I expect that Jim Justice will be our next US Senator. I hope he take Baby Dog with him and tells Chuck Scumer to kiss her hiney.

I would say the bigger story is the vote totals between the Republicans and Democrats.
President (R)
David Stuckenberg (R) 1,141
Donald Trump (R) 194,344
Nikki Haley (R) 20,774
Rachel Swift (R) 2,264
Ryan Binkley (R) 1,447
219,970

President (D)
Armando Perez-Serrato (D) 2,723
Dean Phillips (D) 7,036
Jason Palmer (D) 10,822
Joe Biden (D) 66,940
Stephen Lyons (D) 7,223
94,744

Not much since last election. It was shocking but the whole state went Republican.

If Trump weren’t running and there were a snowball’s chance in 100-degree Miami for him, I think a good case could be made for David Stuckenberg; maybe Trump can use him somewhere in the admin, heading tax or border policy or elsewhere.

Obama’s War on Coal completely flipped WV, like my District 6 in Ohio. Some local Democrats still thrive, but Federal and a lot of state offices are now solid red. Miners have long memories; I don’t see that reversing in my lifetime or yours.

“ Alex Mooney gave up a safe seat”

I know Mooney was pretty good. What does his likely successor look like?

Riley Moore
Campaigns as more conservative than
Sen. Shelly Moore, his aunt

TOO much Moore in W.Va.

Biden barely got 70% of his primary vote as a siting president and being virtually uncontested….

Turnout was low as expected but still I think that’s unprecedented in the modern era…

I voted for Mooney though I acknowledge he defines the terms professional politician and carpetbagger. At one time he was Maryland State GOP head. Tried to have a political career in Maryland - failed. He’s originally from Maryland’s western panhandle which in culture is very much like WV. He came to WV and beat out the RINO McKinley** . Mooney served very well as a congressman and is very MAGA. He should have stayed in that seat, continue to be MAGA and bide his time. He didn’t his ambition got the best of him. Too much the professional politician for me to comfortably support again. Let’s see if he stays in the state. If he stays in the state and runs for something I will have to consider the context before I will support again.

** McKinley - very sad story! Elected as a Tea Party guy but the Beltway culture absorbed him in. In 10 years went from Tea Party to anti-Trump RINO. From my observations 10 years is often the tipping point for conservatives to go RINO.

I’ll be voting for Justice in the general. Good governor*** but thoroughly crooked businessman. I have family in the mining engineering services community. I could tell stories.

*** How hard is it to be a good GOP governor when your legislature is like 70% GOP?
