As Russia Advances, NATO Considers Sending Trainers Into Ukraine
NYT ^

NATO allies are inching closer to sending troops into Ukraine to train Ukrainian forces, a move that would be another blurring of a previous red line and could draw the United States and Europe more directly into the war.

(snip)

So far the United States has said no, but Gen. Charles Q. Brown Jr., the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said on Thursday that a NATO deployment of trainers appeared inevitable. “We’ll get there eventually, over time,” he said.

(snip)

As a part of NATO, the United States would be obligated under the alliance’s treaty to aid in the defense of any attack on the trainers, potentially dragging America into the war.

If enough ODAs deploy and get busy there, the results should be noticeable fairly quickly. Not a fan of the war but allowing Putins forces to invade and occupy not ok, esp. Since our Government position continues to be standing by them “forever”, (Ukes) and supplying them with “whatever it takes to win”. It is galling that OUR Southern border continues to be invaded while we print fiat money to spend on Ukraine.

None of what you said, though probably accurate, changes the fact that so-called "advisors" were sent there, Viet Nam, Laos, whatever, before the war escalated.

I have watched Air America. I've even worked on their helicopters BTW.

The advisors you referenced came long after.
But, if you are considering the agency people sent there prior as advisors, that may be correct.
So call them advisors or whatever you like. The fact is, this agency that now runs this country, are the ones who formented that war.
Now tell me, did Vietnam become a communist country that we now deal with?
If so, what in the fuck was the point of killing off all the people who died in the conflict?

Same with Ukraine.

How could NATO troops teach the Ukes anything about fighting Ruskies when they themselves have never done it?

Is it true that deal was on the table a log time and even Zelensky was willing?

Is it true that he was “talked to”, kind of like a offer he couldn’t refuse, and pulled his desire for the deal, only to his country destroyed and people slaughtered?

Wasn’t there a leaked report that told is losing so bad that it doesn’t matter what they get?

As for the war, to me, the puppet masters are sitting by while people die by the thousands, country destroyed, but the military industrial complex is printing its own money and laughing.

Yeah.... 12 SF guys assisted one group of goat humpers in defeating another group of goat humpers, and did so with massive use of US Air Force and Navy bombers.

Nothing remotely like that is in the cards for Ukraine.

“(I’m not asking for speculation, but rather, for any source of what his issues/complaints/goals are)?”

He’s listed them several times. Nazis in Ukraine must be disbanded and removed from the military and government, a policy of national neutrality, a stop to the ethnic cleansing (bans on Russian language, destruction of war memorials) and No joining NATO.

They were very clear on this and asked for about a year to open negotiations. Their main point was that security had to be indivisible. That NATO expanding had to take into account their security concerns as well.

Biden flipped them the finger again and again. We said it was not their business what happened in Ukraine or NATO. We said we would have discussions with them only on other topics we deemed to matter. (Probably pride month etc)

They have never waivered from those demands.

I hope you don't think I was apologizing for the war in Viet Nam.

The "advisors" were in Viet Nam long before any troops of any magnitude were deployed there. The same is happening in Ukraine. Just hide and watch.

Air America wasn't just the title for a documentary. Like I told you I worked on their helicopters in Viet Nam in 1967. They were active long before that.

Appreciate the response, DR.

I can understand all of what you said except for the bit about Nazis in Ukraine; why is this any of Russia’s concern? Security? Are they responsible for the ethnic cleansing? It’d seem to me that Nazis anywhere should be of concern not just to Russia, but for us, as well; so, why are they the only ones bothered by it?

The other items, IMO and FWIW, should not be problematic; I think these could be properly negotiated. If there wasn’t (I’ll accept the premise, because I don’t know any better), ethnic cleansing, would there have been no need to invade? Is taking land not part of Putin’s plan? If all of his conditions are satisfied, would he withdraw from the territory Russia has taken over?

I don’t expect you to have all answers here but among reasonable people, the situation over there should not be sustained, and be put to an end.

I vaguely knew a couple of the crew.
If I remember right..there was continental air services as well as a couple others.
The ravens were the air cover arm of the thing.

We spent a very short time over there on OP. Managed to have 500 pounders dropped on us by B52s. We GTF out just before they abandoned the place leaving thousands of Hmongs behind that trusted us completely. Very few of those poor people managed to survive the slaughter from the communists after we left
To this day, they are digging up unexploded ordinance from the bombings.
Estimates are that some 40 thousand people have been killed from ordinance explosions over there.

And the same thing went on in The Ukraine. They sent operatives over to basically forment a war.
This agency killed JFK because of the bay of pigs disaster and he was about to pull the plug on them.
