Jack Osbourne wants to be fireman 07/02/2005 - 19:45:53
Reality TV star Jack Osbourne is giving up showbiz to become a firefighter in New York.
Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne's youngest child is fed-up with the selfish attitude prevalent in the entertainment industry and wants to help other people instead.
Osbourne, 19, explains: "I'm enrolling on a firefighting course this summer in New York. I'm serious. It's something I've always thought about but now is definitely the time to do it.
"I think it would be really cool. Those guys do a tough job and I admire that. Since 9/11 I think people appreciate them more. Plus you get to wear those cool uniforms that all the chicks dig. I'm joking about that but I do want to do it - definitely. I'm looking into how to enrol now.
"I definitely have a great life. But I'd like to do something for other people, for a change."
I think we should start bets on how long this phase of his will last.....
Shades of David Lee Roth.
This will go over about as well as Riddick Bowe's stint with the Marines.
First he must learn to extinguish his crack pipe!
I say he'll last until about lunchtime of training day 2, if that long.
Maybe he is finally growing up a little.
It'll last until he learns he'll have to take and pass a physical.

LOL
Why'd you post a picture of Carrot Top?
:)
E'llo ... I'm 'ere to save you.
'S okay ... I'd rather jump.
He will last until his first urinalysis.
I wish him well.
Yeah, well just about every male (and a few females) on my moms side of the family is either police or fire (and often via military).
Those that try to catch the firefighter gravy train usually start heading that direction at a very young age.
Theyll be junior lifeguards during the summer. Then theyll be regular lifeguards around their junior year in high school. Then theyll go to community college and take various paramedic-type classes while working for an ambulance service. On and on.
And, from their lifeguard-ing days, they usually have to pass different run/swim/swim-while-towing-unconscious-person type drills and tests and are likely in much better shape than Jack. They continue that type of active/competitive lifestyle with the goal to pass the tests should they make it to the top of the waitlist for the FD.
In other words, they dont just wake up one day at 19 and decide to sign up. Theyve been thinking about it since they were 12 and taking CPR classes at cub/boy scouts.
But whatever. His name/fame can probably get his foot in the door. But then, hell be competing with people thatll likely have more on the ball, IMO.
bump
First thing he needs to do is get his big fat ass into shape. He'll never make it as an American firefighter..no way does he have the guts and grit it takes to be a fireman! He's a spoiled brat just like his sister!
