Remembering is sacred. Yet Congress has created a National Day of Service and Remembrance to remember 9/11, an act that has shifted the emphasis from memory to activism. Painting park benches or tutoring in schools is not a worthwhile tribute to those lost on 9/11.

They are trying to deflect the American public's attention away from what happened on 911. They will fail in that endeavor.

Odd Lincoln didn't say we should practice ACORN style community service or prance around like a bunch of brown shirts saluting dear leader either.

The national Day of Service is the formal title of The National Day of Corvee Labor. The serfs show fealty to the lord by providing free labor for his project.

Corvee labor is sweat tax

Screw Hussein. We’re doing the “Walk For Freedom” from the Reagan Library. Just got a recorded call from Simi Valley Police saying there’ll be a low jet fly-by over us to kick off the event. (So we can be prepared in case pets freak out, etc.)

What exactly does commemorating an attack against American civilians who were beginning their work day at their places of employment have to do with “investing in clean energy?” Not a blessed thing.

Obama’s theme for this day, like almost everything else that emanates from him and the Democratic Party and is dutifully retransmitted by the mainstream media, is about what they want for America and nothing else.

At the funeral mass for Sen. Kennedy, the very first petition (normally, it would be for the Church, the sick, or, especially at a funeral, the souls of the deceased and what we Catholics refer to as “the faithful departed”.) The memorial service for Sen. Wellstone was 80% campaign rally, 10% political event, and 10% to celebrate the life of the deceased.

Even when the dead are their own, the Democrats place their political agenda ahead of everything including honoring the dead. And the mainstream media dutifully supports their efforts.

Go to Obama’s serve.gov and see what others are doing on this day. According to the Heritage Foundation, “In Oklahoma students will pull weeds, plant flowers, paint benches, and plant a tree. In Minnesota, 100 volunteers will assemble Energy Efficiency Outreach Bags. And in South Carolina AmeriCorps members will serve in a variety of projects, including garden beautification, food and clothing collections, and working with homeless and hungry people.”

None of that has even the faintest connection to what happened eight years ago on 9-11.

Leave it to Obama and the Democrats to find new and creative ways to desecrate the memory of those who died on 9-11, and especially the 343 firefighters and paramedics and 60 police officers who perished while bringing others to safety. It is an absolute disgrace to, on this day, diminish their ultimate sacrifice by featuring those who “assemble Energy Efficiency Outreach Bags” (whatever that is) or beautify gardens.
