No one was clever enough or quick enough on their feet to envision borrowing the helicopters power companies use to wash off the insulators on high voltage lines as aerial firefighters.

Directly injecting water at the fire floors might have partially compensated for the sprinklers having been shut off.*

Probably would have taken too long to get them there anyway...

*License suspect had WTC repair pass, but Port Authority did its own work [Tennessee License Scandal] The pass gave him access to the buildings' sprinkler systems. I bet he "fixed" them real good...

The choppers would have needed the water tanks and other apparatus already installed, and the amount of water a few choppers could have gotten up there to those two buildings in that small amount of time would have not mattered much overall.
