Why did TWICE the number of people die from the North Tower collapse then from the South Tower? It was hit first, and hit much higher up, presumably trapping fewer people, but also collapsed 29 minutes later than the South Tower, giving more time to escape.

Everyone above the first impact zone was trapped as all stairwells were severed. Many above the second impact site were able to escape down the single remaining intact stairwell.
