The half of them at Columbia who actually are students do not represent their entire generation any more than the creeps at the DNC convention in Chicago in '68 represented theirs. They are, however, a carefully selected (and not by merit) boot camp for an anticipated ruling class and so have to be taken at least a little seriously.

It isn't pretty. Impassioned young, largely white, largely uneducated, largely women who amaze their country by their credulity and self-righteousness cut a dismal portrait of what is intended to be thrust into the seats of political power. At least in the 70's they had to wait a few years. That conveyor belt has shortened and at the end of it we have The View, The Squad, and such vapid nonentities as Kamala Harris intending to helm the ship of state onto the rocks in the fervent belief that (1) the country deserves it, and (2) only good will rise from the ashes. The money behind this avalanche of mediocrity believes it can be controlled. Never before in history, of course, but this time for sure.

True. Any more than the 350-400,000 at Woodstock represented theirs though the media prefers the image to the 500,000 in Vietnam plus another 1.9 million serving elsewhere. The kids trying to get an education aren't a story.
