I’ve heard blacks referred to as “non-swimmers.”
I guess it’s low body fat = harder to float.
No access to swim lessons or valuing it as a skill or sport.
I’ve heard some blame it on lack of access to public swimming pools but I think their parents just don’t prioritize them learning to swim. Most white parents want their kids to learn how to swim as just a basic safety precaution and encourage them to learn it while still young.
cowardice is my theory.
This is it. Has nothing to do with economics, body fat or access. Urban pools, in many areas, are exclusively black, they having driven every other race out through sexual assaults on women and girls and general violence, criminality and mayhem. Swimming, like education, is a "White" thing and, hence, frowned upon and avoided. Also, it takes discipline, effort and focus. Othe "White" things to be avoided. My Father taught my brother, 5 years old and me, at 4, to swim. He took us out, in a canoe, to the middle of a lake, threw us in and paddled back to shore. We learned to swim and made it back. Getting out of the burlap sack was the hard part!😁😉
A goodly fraction of welfare kangs and kaweens are morbidly obese.
They make Stacy Abrams look svelte!
(Until I lost 85 lbs I never worried about drowning, fat floats!)
I knew a fellow boy scout who was black sans fat. He absolutely sunk like a rock. It was very difficult for him to tread water.
