Alvin Bragg’s Case Against Trump Is Imploding Fast
PJ Media ^ | 05/06/2024 | Matt Margolis

It was a bad week for Alvin Bragg and his case against Donald Trump. There's no other way to put it.

For starters, Judge Juan Merchan, who is overseeing the case, may have made a critical error that could reverse the Trump verdict upon appeal by allowing prosecutors to make certain arguments.

"Last week, during an appearance on 'Fox & Friends,' GWU law professor Jonathan Turley told Fox News that Merchan made a mistake by allowing Bragg's prosecutorial team, which former Biden administration official Michael Colangelo is leading, to say unequivocally that Trump was involved in federal election law violations."

"That jury has now been told repeatedly that there are federal election crimes here, strongly suggesting that the payment to Stormy Daniels did violate federal election laws," Turley explained. "That’s just not true.”

He cited the recent overturning of Harvey Weinstein's conviction for similar reasons as precedent.

But even the actual allegations against Trump are falling apart. Keith Davidson, the lawyer representing adult film actress Stormy Daniels, testified that the $130,000 payment to Daniels should not be construed as "hush money" but rather as a legitimate "consideration" payment. Davidson also testified that Trump's former lawyer, Michael Cohen, was "despondent" when he didn't get a White House job after Trump won the presidency in 2016.

And then there was the testimony of former Trump aide Hope Hicks. Many in the media tried to paint her testimony as damning for Trump, but even she undermined the allegations against him.

Fox News legal analyst Gregg Jarrett called Hicks' testimony an "epic miscalculation" by the prosecution. "The moment cross-examination began, their misbegotten case against the former president began to collapse," he explained.

no it isn’t. when the justice system is compromised, it doesn’t matter how incompetent the prosecution is.

The tragedy in all of this is that the left are pulling out all stops to get Trump and with each attempt, we Americans are losing confidence in the judicial system.

They are bending and in some cases breaking the laws (in my opinion). Yet, they don't realize that they are establishing precedents that will be damaging.

If Jonathan Turley and Fox&Friends say it’s falling apart, it doesn’t mean it’s falling apart. They aren’t exactly objective observers, and the judge certainly doesn’t seem to be objective.
I’ll believe it when I see it.

That I’d like to read about

This depends on how you few Trump (that is what the law is now i guess). The left sees Hope Hicks’ testimony as the smoking gun they were waiting for and the right sees the whole thing as bogus. Since the Jury and Judeg don’t like Trump he’ll be found guilty. Maybe a judge on the appeal Track will be MAGA.

All of these cases against Donald Trump were engineered to implode. They exist for the sole purpose to wake the public up. The bad actors have to be unmasked for everyone to see.
People have to see and understand that the system is too corrupted to fix itself.

Donald Trump isn’t going to prison and Donald Trump isn’t going to pay out any of these high dollar awards you are reading about. You are immersed in an interactive theatre production.

You get a number of idiots on the jury, and it doesn’t matter what the evidence is.

Welcome to 2024.

Judges make it happen. NY changed the law so Trump could be pursued by a woman that doesn’t know the date or year.

We get article after article like this from the conservative press and then everyone is going to be shocked when Trump is convicted. We are in an echo chamber. The case is nakedly political. And yet he’ll get a conviction. Its a done deal.

Poor Alvin, now the entire State of New York will be voting for Trump because of his foolish arrogance. Sometimes pride gets in the way.

And the dress she claims to have worn during the attack was not even being produced back then.

They’re like pitbulls or Rottweiler dogs that go straight for the kill! These POS criminals corrupt asses will continue to milk the cow as much as it can and keep President Trump off the campaign trail. This is what it’s all about. They know they cannot damage him. The people are seeing right through the hoax. It’s all about keeping him off the C trail! The only ones who are giddy over this sham trial are the far left deranged POS and FJB’s C team and all of pedophiles in HELLywood!

It just takes one juror with some common sense to end this persecution. Hopefully one slipped through, but it is New York City, after all.

Doesn’t matter—the jury will still convict.

All you need is one holdout and the jury is hung.

Didn’t we learn from the OJ jury. Facts mean nothing to juries today. Juries decide by race and then politics. In that order.

As things presently stand, the prosecution is free to make assertions, which may or may not be supported by verifiable evidence.

Doesn’t matter. The verdict has already been announced, which virtually assures Trump’s much larger vote total in the general election.

The Giant Antaeus in Mythology

Antaeus, son of Gaia and Poseidon, was a Libyan giant whose strength appeared invincible. He challenged all passers-by to a wrestling match that he invariably won. Upon winning, he slaughtered his adversaries. That is until he met Hercules.

Hercules had gone to the garden of the Hesperides for an apple. On Hercules’ way back, the giant Antaeus challenged the hero to a wrestling match. No matter how many times Hercules threw Antaeus off and tossed him to the ground, it did no good. If anything, the giant appeared rejuvenated from the encounter.

Hercules eventually realized that Gaia, the Earth, Antaeus’ mother, was the source of his strength, so Hercules held the giant aloft until all his power had drained away. After he killed Antaeus, Hercules proceeded safely back to his return destination.

Now I ask you, in this encounter, is Trump Antaeus, or is he Hercules?

Guilt is not the aim of this charade. The aim of the charade is to keep Trump off the campaign circuit while at the same time libeling and slandering him on network and internet media sites every day. Just citing that the case is about hush money is a mockery of anything remotely germane to the actual legal issues.
