I know it’s dangerous. But perhaps there should be a Convention of States to address this one issue. The president can federalize the National Guard at his whim. This gives the president way too much power.
Only Congress should be able to federalize the Guard.

I was in the Texas National Guard, Texas takes its military forces seriously and will go to unusual lengths to support them if needed.

I always thought that it just took a signature from POTUS to put any National Guard unit under direct Presidential command.

If this is so great, why are we hearing about this all over the nation?
Sounds like Perv-in-chief is afraid of what TNG and TANG can actually do, like shut down the border.
Of course there is nothing in the article regarding the nature of current TNG operations, which IS shutting down the border.
So, of course the commie-prog perve LGB controllers can’t stand that and is now trying to permanently remove control of State National Guard... from the States.

Here is a Texas guardsman wearing the Texas T-Patch, he looks too gentle and young to amount to much as a GI but he has a few medals so I guess he did OK during his prior active duty service with the 3rd Infantry Division.

Lenin: How, then, can anyone oppose the transfer of all power in the central state to the Soviets? Such opposition means nothing but renouncing democracy!

How does the President have this authority?
Article II Section 2 states:
The President shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia of the several States, when called into the actual Service of the United States;
Article I Section 8 says:
To provide for calling forth the Militia to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions;
The Constitution says that the President must wait for the militia to be called into national service before he can be Commander-in-Chief over them, but it is Congress who must call them into national service first.
What am I missing? If the Texas National Guard and Air Guard are not "militia" units at all, then wouldn't that mean that the President has no CiC authority over them under any circumstances?

It’s a bad precedent. If Biden does this in a Red state, he could do it in any state, right?

I see a simple solution here: the day Brandon signs the executive order, every member of the Texas Guard resigns, and joins up with the newly created Texas Militia.
