GOP-led House set to vote Wednesday on adding U.S. citizenship question to census

The GOP-led House of Representatives is scheduled to vote for Wednesday on legislation that would add a U.S. citizenship question to the census.

The census is conducted every 10 years.

The Equal Representation Act, would require a "citizenship question on the decennial census" as well as "modify apportionment of Representatives to be based on United States citizens instead of all persons."

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, "at the conclusion of each census, the results are used to calculate the number of House memberships to which each state is entitled," a process referred to as apportionment.

The Trump administration explored adding a citizenship question to 2020 census forms but ultimately decided not to move forward.

Democrats oppose adding such a question, arguing that the census should count every person residing in the U.S. regardless of their immigration status.

We must do this if we are to save the Republic.

They should also include restricting the census count for congressional house seats to US citizens only. Otherwise, this influx of illegals skew the distribution unfairly.

This is a great idea - and should have always been on it.. BUT:

1 - Even if they can miraculously get it passed in the House...
2 - the US Senate won’t even vote on it...
3 - Ane even if the Senate somehow voted and it passed (won’t happen), Biden would assuredly veto it.

The DEMs would do this if the parties involved were in reverse. They would make the GOP go on the record for something they felt a good number of voters would side with. For some reason, too many Freepers don’t want to do that. It’s not like they are going to be able to pass anything conservative voters want that would get past a DEM-controlled Senate and that mush-for-brains in the White House.

Meaningless nonsense. No conceivable Senate will pass such a bill, and Biden will veto it.

Will RINOs in the Houae kill this bill? Does it require Senate approval? If approved and Biden veto’s, are there enough votes in the House to overturn?

These Bills being introduced are just theater. Such a bill has no chance of moving forward or passing the House or Senate, much less obtaining the signature of the current White House resident and becoming law.

However, the soundbites that go along with such a Bill will make great campaign ads for those sponsoring the bill. When they send you an email letting you know they are a co-sponsor, a request for money will be included. If you will send $100 to their cash-strapped campaign (TODAY! DON’T DELAY!) it will help them [.......] and save the [......]!

Democrats will fight this to their death.
If this becomes law, they will have to wait until the newborn children’s of immigrants grow up to ever win anything.
Getting rid of automatic US citizenship given to everybody born in the USA is also needed.

R’s always have these great bills when they are out of power. Once they get back in power, you never hear of them again. Useless PR stunts.

I’ve done a lot of family research in the last 30 years...much of it looking at old census records. The ones I’ve seen all had the question “citizenship”...”Y” or the person’s country of citizenship.

It's quite possible they won't be voting Democrat by then.
