As impossible as it is...it's really fun to think about...
To: TexKat
I suspect you are right. Nannygate is the 'official' excuse.

Well what to you expect Bush to do? Hog-tie Kerik and demand he stays even since he's the one who has resigned? Who exactly are the Pubs and Bush supposed to fight here?

I have to agree...nannygate can be explained away with him being in Iraq when the hiring was done...there must be more..

Probably a accumulation of stuff.
They need a tough guy in that job. Way too much internal politics for a novice.

Good Lord - I live in California and sometimes we grab a fellow to come do some yardwork. Guess I could never even run for city Council.

You Know as a pilot there is an old saying ...." If you've never had a "TALK" with the FAA, then you haven't been flying"
If all we are to have are squeaky clean department heads, then they don't have what it takes to do the job... Everyone learns from his mistakes... no mistakes, no experience to learn from.
If we have come to the point where a indiscretion such as this causes the BEST man/Woman from the job then we're F$%$^ed

compare this incident, to the Sandy Berger documents incident.
if Kerry had won, do you think Berger could have held a post in his administration? do you think Kerry could have gotten him in there? I do.
so Kerik must go for a nannygate incident, but for Berger, they would have swept the theft of classified documents aside as "a mistake in judgement".

How could we expect this guy to be tough on illegals if he was hiring them? I don't think that there is a plan to be tough on illegals.
I heard on another thread a couple of days ago that this guy would go easy on illegals. Something about being from New York City.

Have a hard time believing this is all about hiring an illegal alien I mean migrant worker, I mean guest vocational transfer program member...
Of course he pulls out at 10:00 on Friday night... at least it gives Bush 48 hrs to pick another. And he will on Monday... can't let this go a full news cycle... maybe even tomorrow

I used to be a huge fan, but now I'm not so sure anymore. How can he HIDE this from the President? Seems he lacks the intellectual horsepower for the job after this

"Anyway, we started speaking about kerik and this guy despised him for some reason. Called him an opportunist who did not know what he was doing. I told him I didn't agree but this guy worked with kerik for several years and just felt he was not right for Homeland security."
Lets just say that Kerik was a 3d grade detective that made out on his association with Giuliani.
