Zelli, Ollie, Rudy, Joey... these names are too big. We wouldn't be talking about Kerik until he was pulled up from the depths of NYC (good thing). I think that Bush is willing to give a tactical position like this to someone with less name recog. and more guts, real life can do. But, will he be able to find that person. His short list's getting shorter

I know nothing really about many people nominated for high positions..I have to read several sources and get various opinions.

You've made some strident remarks about Kerik being slime. Why don't you elaborate rather than asking someone to just repeat your highly negative opinion? I'm interested...if you have any facts to back up your comments, that is.

If Clinton or the Democrats' Cabinet nominee guy had such baggage, and I was opposed to his nomination, I couldn't very well turn around and exercise double standards, and be for such a nomination just because the Republicans are the Party in power.

This type of incident also happened in Bush's first term, when Linda Chavez withdrew from her nomination due to the questionable immigration status of a woman living in her home. Whether justified or not, it wasn't too smart of Kerik to think it would go unnoticed in his case.

Now your talking, I'm not highly familiar with these names or resumes --- I'm going to be researching... but this is more like it.

RE: Bernie, if he made it this far he must have been fairly clean on the surface... Not destroying productive innovations of predecessors is my #1 criteria for nom. of a bureaucrat...

Well heck, Hillary has more skeletons in her closet than Jack Kervorkian. It couldn't have been that bad. Kerik probably just decided it wasn't worth the trouble and in effect he told Schumer and the other hack Dem senators to f### off.

Everybody likes a rags-to-riches story. This one, like most, was just a fairy tale. No reason to be angry or defensive. There were enough red flags with this guy to have a May Day parade in my opinion - but he's out, so he's irrelevant.

Bring us a second amendment defending law-and-order conservative (plenty out there) and Kerik will be quickly forgotten, as he should be.

I thought the nanny gate issue w/Clinton's nominee...can't remember who it was...was stupid then, is stupid now....but there are several things adding up about Kerik that, when all strung together, are disappointing...

Good riddance to bad rubish. Another gun grabber done gone! It'll be hard to find someone worse, but I have faith in president Bush.

Bummer, I really liked that pick. I can't stand the way the dems keep going after well qualified people. It makes me sick. I had heard that Kerik was for some gun control though. I hope the next pick is even better. Go Bush!

I guess it would be a conflict of interest to be in charge of securing our borders from illegal aliens, when in fact he has hired one to raise his kids.

Reminds me of the illegal alien that had his picture taken with Vice President Dick Cheney and his wife, Lynne, on White House grounds. The illegal alien, Martinez Gonzalez kept festive photos of himself with the Cheneys as souvenirs to show off his insider access. Martinez/Gonzalez had access to the White House grounds, the Pentagon, and NASA, and rubbed elbows with Washington’s most powerful officials.

Nice eh?

You give me all the upstanding entries on his resume and I will
give some of the less favorable. What are his good points besides his being a Republican?

Thats all true, but it doesn't mean that his critics within the department were wrong.

You're one of them, I take it. Ve haff vays of makink you tock. Shpeel de beans, bustah. You vill giff us das info vots behint de sceentz, ja?

(I was under the impression that Kerik was an honorable man. I hate to find that it was an illusion.)
