How very sad. All those nursing home residents. A nursing home is a death chamber. 98 out of 100 residents. IOW, they all have it and so does the staff and the staff’s families and friends and a number of those they’ve passed at the grocery store and around town and certainly being taken to school by their kids.

Sock - STAY HOME!

How’s your mom doing at home?

Mom is fine. Bored, as we all are.
We are seeing a spike here five days after the Grand Opening of our new HEB, attended by everyone and their dog.

After all the old people in the country’s nursing homes are dead Medicare, and Social Security will be saving some $$$.

HEB is back to limiting purchases.

One headline - Texas is one of the least safe places for the holidays. Another - How to talk to your family about Thanksgiving. Really? That's easy, "See you next year, maybe." As if they can't set the computer in the middle of the table and facetime.

https://cbsaustin.com/news/local/some-college-students-question-advice-to-mask-up-when-they-go-home-for-thanksgiving Make that middle school through college. "CBS Austin asked Zhang and Weatherbie if they plan to mask-up and socially distance at home... “Personally, I wouldn’t be able to do it,” said Weatherbie... “I just don’t personally think that I would because I’m already around in the same areas as them,” said Zhang.

IOW, sorry, Gramps, you're not worth a little 7" piece of cloth. How much do I get when you're dead? Those two morons need to be uninvited to come home and their parents' wallets suddenly go empty for tuition.

In other news, Matthew McConaughey is considering running for governor. As if we didn't see that coming with his face being everywhere for the past year.

Updates here in TX:

Local CBS reports, “Construction, eating and drinking places and hospitals top the list of Austin industries with the most clusters of COVID-19.”

Harris County (Houston) sent out an emergency request that everyone cancel holiday plans and stay home with only immediate household.

Kroger and HEB grocery stores are back to limiting purchases here due to the huge spike in CV cases.

Sports fans are crying because Saturday’s UT Longhorn football game has been postponed. Many high school games cancelled and their football teams in quarantine.

10 mobile freezer body trucks in El Paso (far west TX). 2 Auxiliary Medical Units sent to Lubbock (panhandle of TX) so a total of 8 and one previously to El Paso. 2000+ healthcare workers sent to El Paso. 7.4 million PPEs, 4 million gloves and quarter million face shields to both areas. 3 USAF Medical Specialty Teams (20 personnel each) sent to El Paso. El Paso has been air flighting patients out to other hospitals.

El Paso says contract tracing is pointing to big box stores and restaurants as the major source.

Austin head doctor, Escott, calls the state’s cases “devastating”. Austin is at Stage 4. Cases in Travis Co. (Austin) have increased 100% in 12 days and hospitalizations have increased 50% in 11 days. No more than 2 in a group if you’re high risk. He’s asking businesses to reduce occupancy to 25%.

TX Gov. Abbott says he’ll not call for another lockdown. TX Attorney General Paxton, “It’s important that we do not shutdown the economy ever again.”

Getting rid of the expensive old people who aren’t contributing to the system is why this is going to be allowed to ‘go herd’. It will save social security and medicare.

That poor man. I never could find what the treatment for his tongue was.

Meanwhile in Kerr County,
Peterson Regional Medical Center reported its second death in two day related to coronavirus, along with another big number of positive tests on Tuesday.

Peterson Health said 24 people tested positive for COVID-19 at its facilities — that’s 65 in two days. The number of people who have tested positive between Peterson Health and a testing event on Nov. 3 at Hill Country Youth Event Center is at 269.

The death was the fifth at Peterson since the start of the pandemic. The death toll is now estimated by The Kerrville Daily Times at 30 people, which includes eight in local nursing homes.

This will also be the last day that Peterson reports numbers before Nov. 30. As of Tuesday, Kerr County has averaged 11 positive cases per day in November and this will be the worst month for the coronavirus locally since the pandemic began in February.

Over the last two days, Peterson has returned testing results with positivity rates of more than 20% — above the state’s totals. There are 13 people hospitalized at Peterson Regional Medical Center with COVID-19.

*** Why Kerrville? ***

Restaurant parking lots are full, New HEB is full, When I’ve driven by schools here, and the kids are outside, there is physical contact.
My Cousin caught it, presumably, at the old HEB the day it closed permanently, and everything was 90% off. He said there were about 500 people in the store.
Lots of people here are not wearing masks in the stores.

We’re in a dead heat.

El Paso turned their convention center into 100 beds. 900 outside healthcare workers brought in over past few weeks.

La Salle, IL veterans nursing home - 200 residents and staff have CV and 27 vets have died of CV.

Macy’s parade is on.

Math and reading tests for schools around the nation are being postponed until 2022. Also, UT students get to see their grades and can get them changed to pass/fail. Isn’t that special.

Glanced out the window and see lots of houses across the river are lit up. IOW, tourists and families bringing more CV to us. The house directly across was out taking family pictures with a bunch of people.

A neighbor told me (over the phone) they weren’t going anywhere for turkey day. By the end of the conversation, they were having all the kids and grandkids. So much for telling the truth.

The two of us are staying home. Called mother to tell them happy Thanksgiving and they’re supposed to be staying home by themselves, too.

Happy Thanksgiving to the thread.

I’m apparently talking to myself, but that’s ok.

Watched an episode of “Dr. G Medical Examiner” this morning. The cause of death of a young man was from a virus (before CV) caught a month before. She explained he may never have known he had a virus but that it damaged his heart and had continued to eat away at the muscle until he was a ticking time bomb. Sounds much like what CV does to hearts. Just thought it was interesting.

The oh so wise (not) CDC is considering reducing quarantine from 14 days to 7-10 days. Never mind you may not show any signs for 21 days. Never mind TX and CA are reporting single day record highs BEFORE Thanksgiving.

It’s a nice 80 degree high sunny day but am seeing only one partial family outside meaning all of last night’s lit up vacation houses are circulating icky breaths. As usual, our house is open for fresh air.

Colorado Springs, CO - Red stage like the vast majority of the nation. The county jail went from 8 CV cases to about 1000 since Oct.
