Vice President Kamala Harris has joked about returning to California to run for governor in 2026 when incumbent Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) ends his second and final term.
Politico reported on Thursday, in an overview of potential gubernatorial candidates, that the former California Attorney General and U.S. Senator could make a run:

They need to get rid of her so they can move Biden’s replacement into the VP position.
I’ve been thinking about that same possibility for awhile. They may think they have all aspects of the government locked up so tight that he can’t really do anything significant during his second term, especially if he’s being attacked with lawfare and more impeachments the whole time.

Haha if she did, she would almost certainly lose the Democrat Primary to anyone else.
She’d crash and burn if she tried. One of the reasons she would up getting out of the Presidential race in 2020, was she was getting pummeled in the primary polling in her home state.
If she tries to run for Governor in California, she won’t even win the Democrat Primary there.

Kammy would be an ideal Democrat Governor for Kalifornia. No thinking involved and lots of gifts from the uber rich power brokers who really run things. She proves how women can get ahead in the state—like many Hollywood actresses...

Nixon lost the gubernatorial race in California in 1962...but at least he won the Republican primary (against a real conservative).
If she did lose she could tell reporters they didn’t have Harris to suck up to any more.
