HE HATE ME.

Pro Career A speedy, shifty running back, Rod Smart made a name for himself, literally, as "He Hate Me" in the XFL's lone season of existence. Now, Smart looks to find his real name stitched on the back of an Eagles jersey in 2002. A free agent signee of the Eagles in 2001, Smart played in six games before suffering a season-ending Lis Franc foot sprain in the regular season finale at Tampa Bay (1/6/02). Joined the Eagles practice squad on 10/2/01 and was promoted to the 53-man roster on 11/19/01. Played in six games, mostly on special teams. Registered his first two NFL carries (6 yds.) vs. TB (1/6/02) before suffering a Lis Franc sprain. As a member of the Las Vegas Outlaws (XFL) in the spring of 2001, Smart ranked 2nd in the league in rushing behind John Avery with 146 carries for 555 yards and 3 TDs, while leading the Outlaws in receiving (27 for 245). Signed as a rookie free agent by the San Diego Chargers on 5/19/00, before being released three weeks later on 6/9/00. After being released by San Diego, Smart spent August, 2001 with the Edmonton Eskimos of the CFL
