The Democrats are in negotiations with Madison Sq. Garden to hold a memorial/rap session/political rally in memory of this wonderful human being.

What is the point in killing a person like that? That is horrible. I hope they catch the murderers quickly.

A bad thing....I remember Run DMC from back in the eighties. Run DMC and the Beastie Boys actually still exist in my collection...hehe. Pre-gansta rap was fun music, good for driving around town with your friends. I can remember going through the rhymes and trying to get the references...Paul's Boutique-Beasties is still the funnest for this. Before all of you old farts start to scream how stupid this is, remember, you did the same thing to the Beatles and other stuff....so get off your soapbox and grab your walker...hehe
early rap was fun and good....and today is sad...not 24 hour marathon news sad,( which MTV will turn it into) but more like hearing an old neighbor died...

It's sad how folks can't get away from the madness they grew up in, even after achieving fame and fortune. Mo money, Mo problems.

even though most of the people here do not appreciate this piece of sad news, i know you will.

Geez....how unusual....another murdered hip/hop recording "artist".
In the wonderful world of hip/hop, murder has replaced the more conventional means of death for musical celebrities like overdoses, motorcycle wrecks, and plane crashes.
Glad I missed it. Rap and crack...two aspects of modern youth culture I was thankfully born too early for. Thank You G-d!

No motive has been established
On the news they said it was in the Jamaican part of town, so that probably enough motive there. Wonder if he knew John Mohammad.

Jam Master Jay was a wonderful (and clean) rap pioneer. He did not need to rap about "bitches" or "hoes", or about fantasies of murder. His songs are fun and upbeat, and one of the highlight of the 1980s. He will be missed by myself and my wife.
