MAWG - I have had this same thought since the very beginning. The way that man was sweating had me convinced that he was part of the initial crime against her - the drugging and raping.

And I don't think it was the first time, not for either of them. Father and son rapefests - isn't that special?

If I were Anita, I'd have cleaned out the bank accounts and vanished into thin air after dying my hair black...

In all due respect, something doesn't feel right about that.

Raging hormones are just a distant memory for Paulus and, on a island where prostitution is legal, why would a lawyer (a risk-averse, analytical, detail-oriented nerd) get involved in a high-risk, legally-dangerous, potential career-ending, potentially marriage-ending, purely sensual adventure with his own son (yuck). Behaviorally and practically, the odds are greatly against it. Not only is Paulus not a player, he is a Nervous Nelly. He would wet his pants just thinking about the dangers of date rape.

In another vein, Paulus's comment "no body, no crime" is what a grifter would call a "tell". It unwittingly reveals what Paulus is trying to hide. It is a quirk, a lawyer's slip, that let's us know how strong is Paulus's hand.

Taken at face value (and not embellishing it at all), he is saying that the body is not hidden or buried or even tossed in the ocean. He is telling his son and the other two jerks to keep their mouths shut, because without a body, there is no crime. He didn't say "keep quiet and let's hope they don't find the body" He said essentially "there is no body to be found." Given that lawyers by training use precise language, for him to say there is no body, he is saying either he has fist-hand knowledge (or very strong second-hand knowledge from someone he trusts) that the body was completely incinerated...or that she is still alive.

But, of course, I might be completely off base here.

She's either an enabler, or else she has been victimized/abused and is in no condition mentally to do anything about this.

(IMO of course. Am I allowed my own opinion on this horrible saga in Aruba? Or will the miscreants there object? Whatever, they can rot for all I care.)
