Up until now, I have refrained commenting on this thread, mainly because I arrived late when it turned into the sort of vile hurtfulness I'd expect from the posters at Daily "screw'em" Kos, but not normally from FR. I will say that while I do believe that Mirecki's claims of having been beaten were legitimate, unless the thugs are caught, we have, at this moment, no information on their actual motivations, just speculation and, alas, exploitation. These sorts of early-morning thuggery are all too common, and having for the past six years lived in neighborhoods in close to proximity to bars, I am all too aware of such senseless violence, especially since I was a victim of such a beating earlier this summer. The creeps who beat me didn't do so because of my atheism, nor, as far as I know, was it racially motivated (I'm white; the guys who attacked me were black), because they said nothing that suggested so. Unless further press releases confirm that the @$$#oles that attacked Mirecki made taunts regarding his political or theological views, I will simply view Mirecki's situation as another case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time

I agree that I don't know if Mirecki is telling the truth. I am just amazed (sorta) by the glee that some are taking here at the possibility it is true. I am sure he is another left-wing wacko; that wouldn't make beating him up right for a few comments.

Mirecki did say that the thugs spoke of his statements on ID while they were beating him.

But they did nothing to him that hasn't been advocated previously on FR, with the full knowledge of the moderators, and celebrated by our resident Christians.

Sorry you were assaulted, BTW. I hope they got the guys.
