Anyone watching the press conference about the accidental shooting in Texas?

Posted on 02/13/2006 9:39:43 AM PST by tsmith130

What keeps McCellan from taking off his shoe and throwing it at these people?! I'd last a nanosecond in that job. They keep badgering him about the EXACT time of everything. They're pissing over a few hours!

Some bimbo reporterette just asked Scott "Is it appropriate for the Vice President to offer his resignation"??

I heard that one too, and that should have been the last straw for questioning on this topic. UNREAL.

One asked earlier "should the vice president should take a hunting course?" Un-friggin-believable!

From what I've seen, the MSM is trying to develop a story line that Cheney attempted to cover up the accident. That is why the exact timeline is so important. Remember you heard it here first.

McCellan should just fess up and admit that Cheney is a member of the Crips; he felt dissed by a blood and since he didn't have his glock, he popped some buck in his face, old school style, BOOOOOOOOY!

Now someone who has some sense is asking about nonproliferation treaties.

I'm sure the other reporters are rolling their eyes like high school kids and sighing and ready to get on with demanding the exact timeline (to the second) of the shooting and reporting of it.

Did I hear one mis-info babe ask, "Wouldn't it be more serious if he was killed?"...incredible....

The WH should just admit the truth: VP's hunting buddy was wearing a Hillary Clinton mask.

"explain what it meant when the quail flushed because she didn't know."

It means they turn 'red' when someone tells a Dan Quayle joke!

"David Gregroy from NBC is a horse's ass"

From Chicago Tribune (from a press meeting earlier today):

" Why was the White House relying on a Texas rancher to get the word of Cheney's hunting accident out over the weekend, asked Gregory, accusing McClellan of "ducking and weaving.''

"“David, hold on… the cameras aren't on right now,'' McClellan replied. "You can do this later.''

"Don't accuse me of trying to pose to the cameras,'' the newsman said, his voice rising somewhat. "Don’t be a jerk to me personally when I’m asking you a serious question.''

"You don't have to yell,'' McClellan said.

"I will yell,'' said Gregory, pointing a finger at McCellan at his dais. "If you want to use that podium to try to take shots at me personally, which I don’t appreciate, then I will raise my voice, because that’s wrong.’’

‘’Calm down, Dave, calm down,'' said McClellan, remaining calm throughout the exchange.

"I'll calm down when I feel like calming down,'' Greogry said. "You answer the question.'

"I have answered the question,'' said McClellan, who had maintained that the vice president's office was in charge of getting the information out and worked with the ranch owner to do that. "I'm sorry you're getting all riled up about.''

"I am riled up,'' Gregory said, "because you’re not answering the question,''"

I've actually always thought that Cheney would resign due to health by 2007. This way President Bush could put his candidate in office as a high profile on the job training candidate.

I always thought Gore would have been elected in 2000 if Clinton would have resigned and Gore elevated to President in 1999.

Maybe the press would want to pursue Teddy Kennedy asking the same questions about Chappequiddick?? Leaving someone overnight to drown seems a bit more criminal than spraying a fellow hunter with BIRDSHOT.

ABC Uses Shooting Accident to Take Gratuitous Shot at Cheney Over Scalia
Posted by Brent Baker on February 13, 2006 - 00:04.

In the midst of ABC's lead story Sunday night about how Vice President Dick Cheney had, on Saturday afternoon, accidentally hit hunting companion Harry Whittington with shotgun pellets while he was aiming at some quail, reporter John Yang resurrected a two-year-old media-created scandal which amounted to little at the time: How Cheney invited Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia along on a hunting trip while the court was facing a decision on a lawsuit involving the Vice President's official duties. Yang brought up Cheney's affiliation with the NRA and then asserted: “His hunting made headlines in 2004. He took Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia on a duck hunting trip to Louisiana on board Air Force Two, at a time when the court was considering a case filed against Mr. Cheney by environmental groups." The Supreme Court sided with the VP's office, which sent the case back to a federal appeals court which rejected, 8-0 in 2005, the Sierra Club's request to learn what advice industry experts gave Cheney's energy task force. (2005 AP story.) (Brief transcript follows.)

On Sunday's NBC Nightly News, Andrea Mitchell managed to deliver a longer story on the shooting, at a ranch in southeastern Texas, without making any mention of the discredited lawsuit. (Golf bumped the CBS Evening News in the Eastern and Central time zones.)

On the February 12 World News Tonight, over a picture of Cheney holding a rifle on stage at an NRA convention, followed by still pictures of Cheney hunting, of Antonin Scalia and of people standing next to Air Force Two, Yang asserted from the White House:

"Vice President Cheney is an avid hunter and strong supporter of gun owners' rights and the National Rifle Association. His hunting made headlines in 2004. He took Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia on a duck hunting trip to Louisiana on board Air Force Two, at a time when the court was considering a case filed against Mr. Cheney by environmental groups."
