How do you know how old it is? And would it be in the same condition encased in amber as encased in bone?

There isn't any soft tissue left in that insect.

From post #63:

"...insects preserved in amber from about the same time period [25 million years] show complete diagenetic alteration (fossilization) in spite of the superb morphological preservation"
