I know you wanted to gag after writing that about Clinton, probably about as much as I want to gag agreeing with you. He is a good POLITICIAN. Not a good person, or good golfer or good anything else.

I think for most people, being a good politician is right up there with being a good shyster used car salesman or a good personal injury lawyer.

I like Taylor. I don't want to know if he votes for Bush, Kerry, or anchovies on his pizza, because honestly, I don't care. I want him to make an entertaining CD that I wear out from playing so much.

He is a good POLITICIAN

In the sense that Jack the Ripper was a clever butcher at evading the law?

"Taylor is certainly NOT Elvis.. who was also uneducated, came from a dirty poor family - but went on to give us a voice of the ages.. all the time caring for his family and friends.. valuing other people and listening to the opinion of others with grace and honor.."

For goodness sake, Elvis was a bloated, overweight drug addict who died at the age of 43. And he is to be our role model?

I still think you should be writitng to Condi to make sure she knows what Taylor said about Clinton, and to make sure she responds with the necessarry anti Clinton remarks IN PUBLIC, like her pro Taylor comments were. Otherwise get outta my face.

Check it out, Taylor wants to record with Aretha Franklin! :)

Taylor Hicks on Mad Dash through Hollywood

May 26, 2006

America crowned him the newest "American Idol" Wednesday night, so what has Taylor Hicks been doing since his big night?

"I've been doing press for about 15 hours straight," Hicks admitted, adding that he's slept, "None, zero. I'm just running on ‘Soul' adrenaline."

Instead of sleep, Taylor has embarked on a parade of talk show tours. He taped an upcoming appearance on "Ellen," which will air on June 2nd.

He also appeared on Leno, where Taylor revealed how fate drove him from serious tragedy to "Idol" victory.

"Sunday night before Katrina hit, I was one of the last taxi cabs out of New Orleans," Hicks revealed. "I took a plane flight to Las Vegas, and here I am."

Jay also gave Taylor the chance to finally turn the tables on his toughest critics, starting with Randy. "Great musician," Hicks responded.

Next up was Paula. "She's up and down," Taylor said. "[Like the] new ride at Six Flags. She's crying one minute and joyful the next."

So what does the new "American Idol" think of Mr. Mean Simon Cowell? "He's a good guy," Taylor said. "I got to shake hands with him last night."

Outside of the NBC studios, Jay joked about sharing the gray anatomy with Taylor. "I think he has the best hair," Leno said. "Everything he does is who he is and reflects who he is. I think that's kind of fun."

"Extra" also had a little fun with Taylor, discovering one singer he wants to meet: Van Morrison. Hicks also revealed that Aretha Franklin is the one person he wants to record with.

So now that he's won "American Idol," what's the one thing Taylor Hicks wants to do now? "Sleep," he admitted.

You are right .. the end of his life was horrible.. not at all what we wanted..however.. his voice was incredible... Taylor is no where near the voice... again, Elvis was not all he appeared to be... however, he did have manners. the business chews up people, as we all know..

I like to watch Taylor.. he is fun... but as far a a voice with quality and long-term staying power... in my opinion, he just does not have it...

Thanks for the civilized come back!

He supposedly sang BACK-UP on someone's disk about 2-3 years back.

Taylor won. Move on.

Call Him Hurricane Hicks
http://www.eonline.com/News/Items/0,1,19130,00.html
by Joal Ryan
May 26, 2006, 1:15 PM PT

Gray-haired, pushing-30 Taylor Hicks isn't just an unlikely American Idol; he's an accidental American Idol.

The just-crowned winner of the Fox singing competition told Thursday's Tonight Show with Jay Leno that he ended up in the American Idol audition city of Las Vegas only after Hurricane Katrina blew him there.

It was a story seconded Thursday by one of Hicks' hometown bandmates in Enterprise, Alabama's Southeast Sun.

"He was stranded in New Orleans the day before Hurricane Katrina hit, and ended up paying a taxi to drive him and a friend to northern Mississippi," Mitch Jones, bassist for the Hicks-fronted Little Memphis Blues Orchestra, said in the Southeast Sun.

After Hicks lost his plane ticket, he was granted a new one--to the destination of his choice. The future leader of the Soul Patrol chose Las Vegas on a lark--he'd never been there, he said on the Tonight Show, per reports.

Once in Sin City, as Jones told the Southeast Sun, "[Hicks] happened to see where they were holding an American Idol audition and decided to try."

After thumbs ups from judges Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson (and despite a thumbs down from Simon Cowell), Hicks was on his way to Hollywood, and, eventually, his $1 million Idol recording contract.

A giant-sized Idol audience of 36.4 million watched Hicks claim season five's title Wednesday night. Clive Davis, the franchise's patron music mogul, told the Associated Press he'll be confabbing with Hicks shortly about the singer's debut album.

"He definitely has his own sound," Davis told the Associated Press. "He does have that gift, you know who it is when you hear him."

In other Idol developments:

* An alleged stalker of season-four finalist Jessica Sierra is due to be released from a Florida mental-health facility following a 100-day stay, Thursday's St. Petersburg (Florida) Times reported.

Florida authorities decided it was best for the man, Daniel Robert Young, 60, to continue his treatment in his home state of California, the paper said.

Sierra, who finished 10th in the 2005 competition, sounded satisfied.

"I'm glad to hear that he is getting the treatment he needs," Sierra said in a statement to the newspaper. "I am relieved that this situation is behind me now, and I am able to focus my full attention on my music career."

Young was arrested in Tampa, Florida, in January after showing up at the home of Sierra's grandparents. He allegedly had been plying Sierra with unsolicited phone calls and gifts since last fall. He faces a charge of misdemeanor stalking, the St. Petersburg Times said.

Did you catch "Larry King Live" last night? It was hosted by Ryan Seacrest and had Taylor, Katharine and Randy Jackson as the guests. At one point, Ryan asked them what they thought of Elliott. Taylor gave a very memorable and complimentary answer. He said he has not heard a throat like that on anyone in a very long time. He was very complimentary about Elliott's voice. He said Elliott still needed a little growth in performance skills, but said that the experience he gained by being on American Idol had been really good for Elliott.

Randy pretty much agreed with Taylor.

Katharine, on the other hand, is a passive-aggressive BITCH. No fooling around. She kind of agreed with the guys only because she was on TV. Yet she just had to throw in a passive-aggressive knock on Elliott. Her version of complimenting him was to say that he was "always" yelling and having a good time backstage, but it never affected his voice. After all, that raspy thing goes with his voice. Ugh!

Also, at one point someone asked Taylor how he's changed over the course of the season. Before Taylor could answer, the bitch said, "I'll answer that for him," and said something to the effect that he's become more difficult. She pretended it was a joke, and the guys tepidly chuckled, but it was really a passive-aggressive, snotty shot at Taylor.

This girl MUST be the center of attention at all times. She frequently spoke for and over Taylor. Where I had been mostly neutral about her personality before, I now detest her.

Taylor is a better instrumentalist than Elvis, plays great harmonica, and lead guitar. Taylor also writes his own songs, which Elvis never did.

His live version of Jailhouse Rock was the equal of Elvis, I think.

We will need a couple of years to find out how good Taylor is.

I was joking withone else in freepmail about how when you look at the transcipt, you have to scroll a lot just to find where Hicks gets to talk! LOL

That show was interesting for a lot of reasons. Someone had mentioned that they liked watching Taylor watch her and I would have to say that I did find myself watching him, watch her. I got the impression a couple of times that he wanted to laugh AT her!
