DU Tactics at FreeRepublic
FreeRepublic | 4/3/07 | Reaganesque

Posted on 04/03/2007 7:24:18 PM PDT by Reaganesque

It is always disappointing to be reminded that there are people in the world who do not like you so much that they are willing to debase themselves and others in order to get their way. We, as conservatives face this from the Left on a day to day basis. But when such action comes from another supposed Conservative, that is truly disappointing.

The posters at DU think nothing of swearing and posting the most filthy, perverted and twisted things about their political rivals. We here at FR are, for the most part, better than that. At least we try to be. Unfortunately, there's always someone who proves that both sides have their ugly side.

I have posted a number of pro-Mitt Romney threads recently as have many others. I discovered this afternoon that several of them have been the victims of childish and down right purile dirty tricks. Now, political dirty tricks are nothing new and nor are they uncommon on either side of the aisle. But some simply cross the line of decency. Such is the case with whomever played their little game of messing with the Keywords on these Pro-Romney threads. Here are four examples:

Romney Tops Republicans in Fundraising
KEYWORDS: ANTICHRIST; CULT; FUNDRAISING; MITTRAPESCHILDREN; ROMNEY; Click to Add Keyword

Why I Think You Should Vote For My Dad
KEYWORDS: 2008; ELECTIONPRESIDENT; ELECTIONS; MITTBEATSHISKIDS; MITTISTHEANTICHRIST; ROMNEY; Click to Add Keyword

Parsing the Polls: Answering the Mormon Question

KEYWORDS: CULT; JOEYSMITHDELUSION; Click to Add Keyword

Romney-Thompson Ticket?

KEYWORDS: ELECTION; FRED; FREDTHOMPSON; MITTISTHEANTICHRIST; ROMNEY; THOMPSON; VP; Click to Add Keyword

People, campaigning can be a hard and painful thing. You have to have a thick skin to run for office and heaven knows, all candidates take their blows, some more than others. But there is such a thing as decency. And this little prank doesn't just cross that line, it obliterates it.

Disagree with the thread? Fine. Present your arguments. You don't like the candidate? Great. Tell me why and make an attempt at intelligent conversation. That's the way this place is supposed to work. But, resorting to such sophomoric, vulgar and quite frankly bigoted childishness is beneath contempt. If you can't manage a reasonable level of maturity, then there's a whole bunch of like minds over at DU you can have fun with.

You are Example A of proving my point.

Right back at ya.

I've spent many long hours researching Giuliani's liberal views and mayoral history and posting it here in various forms. Yet none of the actual facts about Giuliani matters to the deluded liberal Rudy supporters. They just want to call it "hate" or "spam" or "irrelevant" and go on dividing this site, distracting from its conservative mission, while trying to elect the most liberal GOP presidential candidate in the history of the United States. And you have been right their with the worst of them. The fruit of your efforts will be further division, the ultimate destruction of the Republican Party that you claim to love, and the election of Clintonesque liberal to the presidency. There are some of us who will not stand idly by and watch that happen. And we don't care if your feelings get hurt as we do what little we can to thwart the liberal takeover of the GOP and the destruction of conservatism as we know it.

I apologize for assuming who your candidate was.

THIS IS A GAME.

And there you go.

That is it in the nutshell. But I have one question: Who gave you the authority and the super duper decoder ring? Are you in trouble for giving away state secrets now?

Rudy is a fiscal and law and order conservative.

Taking extremely excessive taxes and lowering them to the point that they are merely excessive DOES NOT make someone a fiscal conservative. And this whole tough on crime thing is based on him putting a few high-profile white collar criminals and gangsters away.

Why did he appoint Bernard Kerik as police commissioner when he knew about Kerik's possible ties to organized crime? Why did he push Kerik on Bush and make Bush look like a fool?

And if Rudy is such a "team player" who we should all support, why didn't he run against Hillary last fall? Because if he could have beaten her then, she would have been dead politically.

If that translates into an overall liberal, you really need to read more about what liberals want to do with regard to the WOT

What the Rudyites don't seem to understand is that (except for the nutcase Ron Paul) ALL OF THE OTHER GOP CANDIDATES SUPPORT THE WOT. You try to make it sound like Rudy is the only one.

Have either of you ever heard the story of the woman who told her children not to put beans up their nose?

No, no, no...the old song is "My Mommy said not to put beans in my ears...beans in my ears...beans in my ears...

one of the funniest things I remember as a child is this.. We were in an A&P store and a boy in the aisle next to us asked his mother for change so he can get a gumball. He must have asked ten times and she finally relented and gave him a few pennies. He then got a few gumballs out of the machine and asked his mom, “what can I do with these extra balls”.. I have a vivid memory of her saying “for crissakes, chew them but don’t stick them up your nose”..
By the time we packed the car and left, the paramedics had arrived because the boy jammed three chewed gumballs in his nose. The kid’s mom was flipping out in the parking lot and my dad was laughing his ass off as we drove away.

Good times..

Gosh, given Rudy’s frontrunner status among Republicans in this country, I guess we’re all just dumb.

And that Newt; what is he thinking saying all those complimentary things about Rudy.

And Brownback who said he’d endorse Rudy if he wasn’t running himself; what a fool he is.

I could go on, but you get the point.

True,,,,those 13 million included all Libertarian candidates (state, city, local,,,etc),,,but it speaks VOLUMES about how many conservatives are disgusted with the LEFTWARD MOVEMENT of the Party.

Yup. The Republicans spend way too much money. Now all they got to do is shift on the social issues too and you'll have a parties seperated by only defense issues.

Rudy is a fiscal and law and order conservative.

This chart begs to differ:

Law and order conservative? Then why did he defy federal law and federal court orders to keep NYC's sanctuary city policy? Why did he also ignore the law by putting his official mayor records off-limits to public access?

Like most things Rudy, the claims fall to the slightest of scrutiny.

No more speaking ill of our OWN GOP of “Potential presidents” Reagan’s 11th commandment!

Reagan never meant this to mean that we couldn't challenge each other's politics.

Many around here seem to forget that Reagan was the only Republican to EVER to challenge a sitting president for the GOP nomination.

Abusive language - I think it comes from knee-jerk-reactionism, a lack of good upbringing, or just a very small vocabulary. Probably all three.
