It was not so long ago that the idea that Senator John McCain would even entertain tapping Mitt Romney, his bitterest primary rival, as his running mate would have seemed preposterousHardly, the fact that he was the bitterest rival makes him first in line to get the nod. I've always considered the chances of Romney being the VP to be at least in the 60-70% range.
