The city said an overwhelming 50,000 people came to the center seeking money that was promised to keep low-income residents from losing their homes and finding temporary housing for the homeless. That's about double the average Lions home game attendance.

The truth is that poor people in America live pretty good. And if your goals in life are really low, you can live good on welfare and government assistance. America is truly a great country!

One of our local food banks gives free food to our lower income families monthly. There are quite a few vehicles in the blocks long line that are worth far more than mine. Ticks me off big time.

The bald guy in the black gloves up by the door?
I wondered if he might also be a cop.

That’s a terrible thing to do to people, though - sap their very life force from them.
Much better if they faced hunger for not being willing to work. It would be much better for their character and for society.

I carefully checked out all 22 pictures on the link.
I saw a single white man there of all the people photoed.
He was a cop.

The crowd got so rowdy at one point that people were fainting and fighting. The Detroit Police Gang was called.
Well, that was totally unexpected.

I agree with you but wanted to add some info.
The people who are grifters and scammers and “professional” beggars aren’t just misguided, they’re thiefs at heart. Who is truly incapable of coming to the conclusion that depending on the govt for your sustenance is bad for you? Very very few are incapable. Most of these people are hardcore grifters.

My fears exactly ... one misunderstood word,
one or two hostile folks with hairtrigger
tempers, one gun in a crowd that huge = riot.

The Bible addresses that, as well.
Eph 4:28
Those who have been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with their own hands, that they may have something to share with those in need.

You know, it saddens me that so many people, especially African-Americans, have drank the democratic kool-aid for so long that they are completely blinded by the root causes of many of their problems. What party has controlled Detroit politics for the last 30-40 years? Or Chicago? Or East St. Louis?
It's frustrating that these people are so brainwashed that they cannot see that it is LIBERAL DEMOCRATIC POLICIES that are directly responsible for many of the hardships these people currently face.
Why are they so resistent to the truth?

Yeah, most of the vehicles parked outside the last Toys for Tots distribution that I took note of were upscale too. The most outrageous one I saw was an Escalade with gold plated rims.
And of course cell phones everywhere.
