I would have missed this idiot thread but for complaints about it in FR mail from others, not you.
GOOD to see you, but not under these circumstances!
I’ve just returned from San Diego (yesterday). Heat wave, even at the beach. Lots of jelly fish and even a stingray at South Mission.

the very thing Im wanting to avoid: confusion among FReepers due to convoluted and/or unclear postings. Well when you add to that my propensity towards convoluted and/or unclear thinking, we have a real mess.
I'm not quite at Elsie's level yet though, he sometimes has a dialog with himself.

My recollection is that the company hired to do this work; brought on; as many did; workers who were not legal. No; Romney did not run around the yard checking ID’s; but then; most people did not; until recently.

Ditching Cheney is not in the character of GW;
***It would not be ditching, it would be more like letting the man go do the fishing he always wanted to do. If GWB were presented with the choice to do it over again, having seen this disaster fall upon the GOP, I think he would have chosen someone worthwhile to give a leg up.
Cheney did great as VP except for one thing that a VP is supposed to do — represent the future of the party. That’s one thing Romnuts is getting right by choosing Ryan.

Hunter’s name was out there; in the Republican ‘field’ during Primary season; it did not happen.
***This provides the perfect example. If GWB had installed Hunter as VP, who would have had the advantage at the starting gate? Hunter. Almost all the criticism about him was that he was a no-name.

Cheney did great as VP except...
Other than a couple of good speeches, the only thing I'd characterize Dick Cheney doing greatly was when he was no longer VP: His scowl at Obama from under his hat on 1/20/09. I've decided the rest of the story about Dick Cheney was mostly PR, and I tried to read his recent book.

Yet, as I stated earlier, this is an awful pick. Ryan could never be more effective than where he is now. Romney takes a true conservative out of a position of power and sends him to foreign funerals for the next four years. Once again the conservatives get screwed!
That is exactly how I see this. Ryan will now be in a position with ZERO power and influence, forced to toe the putative Romney administration's line, whereas before he was a force to be reckoned with in the House. If Romney wins, my feeling is that his administration show its true colors immediately and anyone associated with it--including Ryan--will soon become toxic to conservatives.

Romney did not run around the yard checking IDs That was GOVERNOR Romney at the personal home of the Governor, first Mitt Romney and wife, and then Governor Mitt, with all of his state resources and security, were interacting with the Guatemalan illegals at their home for 10 years. The landscaper that the illegals worked for, was a naturalized Colombian himself, (A naturalized Colombian, Guatemalan illegals, and a sitting Governor), IDs better have been checked.
In December of 2006, the republican Governor was exposed, and suffered national embarrassment for using illegals for 10 years.
In December of 2007, in a national debate, Rudy Giuliani accused Mitt Romney of having run a "Sanctuary Mansion". On national TV, Mitt Romney indignantly denied the claim.
A few days after the debate, the Boston Globe decided to look again at Mitt's house, and guess what, they found Guatemalan illegals, they were working for the same Colombian, MITT HAD NEVER FIRED THEM!
Ten years and a national scandal, turned into 11 years, and a second national scandal, with all the same players, the same "contractor", Guatemalan illegals, and the same Mitt Romney and his wife interacting with them at their home during the week.

If a man will lie about the little things, he will lie about weightier matters as well. Heard that somewhere.

Okay. ..’busted’. Meantime; we have an ‘illegal’ President; that much of America hired.

Sometimes I’m amazed at how someone who believes one thing, can read such a damning revelation of facts, which reverses that belief, and then simply ignore it, and then switch to ‘so what, let’s move on to another argument then’.
It is amazing that almost no one knows the story in post 3312.
Romney is a closed book to the public and republican voters, a person that seems to have emerged fully grown, with almost no past or political history, to run for president as a “conservative” republican.

Yep, Romney was not just lying to cover up an unpleasant scandal from the previous year, he was lying about illegals that he would see at his home literally the next day or two.
