Just an observation but Ive never noticed people spouting Mormonism in Free Republic, and I read FR all day every day for the last 14 years. I only notice folks who preach the dangers of Mormonism. Occasionaly I see a Mormon post a very subdued reference to their experience as a Mormon not being what others are saying here. Actually I’m surprised their posts are so subdued.
Of course I may have missed some Mormon posts but I sure haven’t seen proseltyzing by Mormons here.
Just speaking for myself I tend to view anyone who tries to spout their religion as the only one as a fool, unless they happen to share in my Roman Catholicism which is the one true, holy and apostolic Church of Jesus Christ. Not exactly a sarcasm but meant as a lesson.

***Well if anyone can point you to it, it’s Elsie.
You’ve got an impressive 1997 signup date. Color me envious. I was lurking at the time, wondering what could happen to this group. I was so sure that Clintoon was going to audit all of us that my first login name was “don’t wanna be audited”. I know it sounds paranoid today, but it at the time the fear was palpable.

Of course. They are not dumb; they know their intended audience and target them.
FReepers are too well informed to fall for the lies of MORMONism.
In fact; just the opposite occurs here.

Example--Discussion of the Book of Mormon Mon 2/22/10 (LDS Caucus)
And it is Roman Catholicism that has been most often promoted here as the OTC to whom all must submit, while they then often complain about the reproof that attracts.
And that as a Roman Catholic I have more issue with the Protestant Reformation than with Mormonism.
Even though Rome at least affirms baptized Protestants may be saved as such, unlike those in the LDS.
But Roman Catholicism and Mormonism operate out of the same basis of authority, that of the church being the supreme infallible-type authority, which they infallibly declare themselves to be, and can likewise declare Tradition, Scripture and history as supporting them. While you have the pope, and they have the living prophet.
But whenever mortals presume to be the supreme authority, versus the Scriptures, then both the bodies as well as the souls of men are in danger, as history has shown.
