“If you fear Obama, you’ll vote for Romney. If you fear God, you won’t.”

This is exactly what so many Freepers don’t seem to understand. It’s not about purity. No candidate is going to be perfect, but with Romney’s record many of us cannot vote for him, knowing we’ll have to stand before God. If this is what our country has come to, then it deserves either of the two candidates and the out pouring of God’s judgement. Frankly, I expect martial law and suspension of the election, so for me at this point, the arguments are moot. Besides, the votes are being counted in Spain by a Soros company. Crickets from the people and our representatives about that. The fix is in. I’ll still vote, but it won’t be for Romney and down ticket will be conservative. There might be some hope there.

OK, so let me go a little deeper into this, because there is an implication here that I just can’t let stand unchallenged. Please understand I’m not trying to be mean or nasty, but at some point this thing of trying to stamp God’s endorsement on one’s position has to be questioned.

I think we’d both agree that we are ALL going to stand before God someday. The implication here is that God has clearly decided that a vote for Romney is sinful, or some breach of true christian faith, even if that vote is done to try to prevent a greater evil from retaining power. Ma’am, I’m sorry, but you do not know God’s mind enough to make this judgement. If you say it is not an issue of sin or sinfulness in making the choice, then why on earth would I need to answer to God for it any more than I would have to answer for my choice in breakfast cereal? What if Romney truly has had a change of heart on some issues? Doesn’t that raise the whole issue of God holding you responsible for not forgiving and accepting that he’s changed his mind?

Keep in mind, I’m not saying that he has. I personally dont think judgement day for the Christian will really involve politics, but will be more concerned with my relationship with his Son.... but I do that I dont know the man’s heart. He may have changed, or he may be hiding the truth to get elected. I dont know. But, whether you believe him or not, I can fully accept someone saying that Romney’s record may prevent you from voting for him. But that’s enough, you can stop there, thats good enough. I dont agree with the position, but I can respect it. When you take the other step of saying that God would agree with you, or hold you in some contempt (or by extention, anyone else that was a christian and knew Romney’s record) for making a choice in a Presidential election to vote for the lesser evil, you are venturing into what I feel to be dangerous ground, of trying to speak for God. Let me reiterate, I am not making any moral judgement about you for your stance on Romney, and I’m not going to castigate you for choosing not to vote for him. I’m just saying we can have this discussion and give valid reasons for and against without delving into speculation about the postion of the Almighty....and who knows, like God has done many, many times in the past, he may be using an imperfect man to do his perfect will.

That’s a whole bunch of words that you used but I read them all.

One’s personal convictions trump what the political partisans wish one might do and how one should vote. This election for certain.

I believe God still speaks to people when they take enough time to listen. As for politics, I’m pretty sure the book of Revelation talks about the anti-Christ, who rules the whole world. That seems pretty political to me. It’s been well documented on FR why so many of us can’t vote for Romney and I won’t revisit the many points. I refuse to be part of a Laodicean, compromising church.
