Its certainly headed in that direction. To those who say, we already are, come on, dont be ridiculous. Go to North Korea and see how differently they live from how we do.
In the fifties if you did not like some of the laws in your state you could move to another state that had different laws and that is what states rights are all about.
I am not familiar with the history of places like Korea but i would bet we have degenerated much farther from what we were in the fifties than any nation on earth where government control is concerned.
I wawn’t alive during the 1950’s, but I do remember the 1970’s and still, having been to countries living under totalitarian socialist rule, any changes in that direction that have occurred since the 1970’s are tiny compared to the difference between what we have now and that. I’ve been places where there’s literally nothing to buy, even if you are a tourist coming in with money, the stores are just empty. Where people are scared to even speak the name of their Dear Leader even in private, much less criticize him. But as I said, we are definitely headed in that direction with no obvious way to stop it, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see us end up there. But let’s be real; we’re not there yet.
