It’s a class picture and I’ve had four kids who over the course of their entire k-12 life, hated their class picture at one time or another. It’s not a big deal really. Hell, I hated numerous class pictures I was in way back when.
Geez, it amazes what we’ve becone.
Maybe Mommy or the media wants an issue?
Maybe we really are becoming a nation of whiners?
It disappoints me no end to see how many bleeding heart simpletons there are posting here at Free Republic. Life is unfair. You make the best of it and tomorrow is a new day. Do the whining posters ever stop to wonder why this is even a story? The mother, apparently feeling sorry for herself, MADE it a story by approaching some liberal scumbag Democrat reporter. That's how. And the reporter (cripes, hopefully not the mother but who knows...?) thought the class picture should be a "group hug" with the wheelchair kid as the center of attention? Please. I think I'll go throw up now.
Yes, Twink, perhaps you shouldn’t have fallen into the flame war, but I agree with you. We used to as a society raise our children to contribute for the better of the group and not raise their needs as individuals above those of the many.
That meant compassion and consideration for those with special needs. But it didn’t mean that the parents of a special needs kid got to commandeer an entire band or school play or sports team or whatever for the sake of a kid who didn’t have the capability to contribute positively without detracting from others’ ability to enjoy the group.
There are two sides to the equation of being considerate of others, and in our whiny and litigious modern society the consideration of the group is IMO too often forgotten.
