I, like you, have eaten a lot of ‘mystery meat’ around the world because bad manners can result in a bad outcomes.
But, knowingly butchering/eating dog? Nah!
Dog and I go done together. He’s part of the unit.
What are the attributes of civilization? Agriculture? Writing? Money? Cities? You know where the word 'cities' and 'civilization' have their root? Right?
Loved my dog, and he was one of the team, and when he passed, he got a deep hole and a Christian burial. Love my catz, too.
But animals are animals.

In ‘61, while serving on a US carrier, we stopped over at Piraeus Greece, near Athens. Butcher shops had skinned cats and dogs hanging in their windows and street vendors were selling kabobs that they weree grilling on the spot. Tasty.
