Our opponents need not approve of our beliefs but they ought to exhibit greater tolerance of us, the same tolerance they ask from us.

Our opponents need not approve of our beliefs but they ought to exhibit greater tolerance of us, the same tolerance they ask from us. But not the same tolerance granted by Catholics toward non-Catholics, which is none.

When the childish graphics, nicknames like Romanists, Papists, idolaters, heathens, sons of satan; calling us a cult, non-Christians, bringing up ad infinitum distortions about the Spanish Inquisition, the Crusades, the wiki-bad-popes entry etc, etc, etc. End, then we will no longer have to defend what is dear to us. We can talk like adults. Trust me, Sister, there’s been much more tolerance from Catholics than what is deserved!

Keep scrolling if it offends us?! How about stating the case less offensively? Or not constantly having at the first of the several denominations from your home page? It’s your journey to God and may He bless you on it- your former Catholicism is part of that journey, like it or not, and part of who you are today. When you sling mud, you’re bound to get dirty yourself.

OK, Lucy, how 'bout working on some of the other peanuts you hang with? Or maybe take that answer of yours with a long look in the mirror?
A chapter and verse is often sufficient: anyone can cut-and-paste. It's living the Scripture that separates Christians from Bible-thumpers.

The Gospel has been given. You dont save, so you can do nothing more. And as it is with the Word of God, it is alive and continues to work - apart from you. Again ... you do not save, its not your work and its not your word. Your job is done. The Word of God is fully capable of doing its own work ... since it is alive! The Word of God requires nothing from you! The Spirit of God requires nothing from you. Salvation of that person requires nothing from you. Unfortunately, too many people think they are God in this regard ... :-) ... Very sensible, as the Parable of the Sower. Cast the seed gently and let it fall... God bless you!

Discuss the issues all want but do not make it personal.
Do not make the thread about a poster.

“advice for all Catholics to completely ignore those threads...”
Excellent advice!! I am going to try this approach and see if I can stand letting them butcher our doctrines. (That is why I break down and answer). I AM going to try to stand it though, because ignoring IS the best tactic and I hope the rest of us try this too.

God bless and keep you, dearest stonehouse01.
I’m sure you realize it’s the same angry gaggle day in, day out, that frequent these theeads hoping to entangle RC’s into counterproductive arguments for “kicks.”

She can cast invectives, but no one else can???
Funny how I’ve missed all that. I guess that’s because I just don’t go on threads like that

I got attacked the other day, by a NON Christian. Oh we Christians were like ISIS or something. maybe he said like islamists. Who cares? I managed to ignore his stupidity and not be drawn in. Better than casting invective at others and then blaming them for arguing.

Metmom, I don’t know you and don’t know what you post like, but isn’t it strange how this other poster can throw around insults, but woe be to others who do?
And she’s quite proud of being a Gnostic. if she only knew how unimpressed we are with that. I for one cheerfully admit a complete lack of knowledge or caring about that little fact.

I’ve also noted that the ones who most complain about how others treat them are the ones who treat others the worst.

It certainly is depressing that the Religion Moderator seems to encourage this kind of stuff. It undermines the basic purpose of FR, which is to get people of various persuasions to work together against the evil forces that are working to destroy our country. And theres certainly nothing Christian about such an attitude.
Yes, I believe the Religion Moderator encourages battles as well, and it IS discouraging.
I think the comment onyx mentioned from CynicalBear, regarding more Catholics being in hell than Muslims, should be removed, just like I thought a photograph of a prominent Catholic, marked up to look like Satan, fell into that same category as well. Because it wasn't removed, I pulled off the site for several months, and when I returned, I decided to pass on further donations and just not post any more threads to balance things out.
I didn't realize so many others were similarly discouraged, and will back off again soon myself even though I do enjoy the commentary of most of the Catholics here, and a couple-few of the non-Catholics as well.
