Really?
In 1963-64 Reagan was an actor, television host and a nominal Democrat...honing his public speaking skills by giving speeches to local Realtor groups, Women's clubs, and Savings & Loan associations.
Reagan wasn't even a nationally known political figure back then...so if you have any evidence of his vigorous opposition to the 1964 CRA, by all means present it.
In contrast 1963 saw George Wallace inaugurated to his first term as Governor of Alabama. Wallace used the occasion to announce to the world
"In the name of the greatest people that have ever trod this earth, I draw the line in the dust and toss the gauntlet before the feet of tyranny, and I say segregation now, segregation tomorrow, segregation forever"
If memory serves you grew up in Alabama...isn't that correct?
Buckley & Goldwater's opposition to the 1964 act aren't really that important imo. Goldwater needed Southern votes, got crushed anyway and never recovered his standing in the party...Buckley quickly and famously reversed his position on the issue.
Oh..and just to summarize the original intent of this extended exchange so far: the evidence you promised to provide that I'm a "south basher" etc. etc. here is....exactly nothing.
Which makes you quite the lying crybaby doesn't it?
Go figure...
