Has ANYONE ever been imprisoned for smoking pot?
09/21/02 | Libloather

Liberteens come, and Liberteens go. But they seem to have an awful time with their own (and biggest - maybe only) issue - pot.

As far as anyone can tell, not ONE person has been placed behind bars for smoking pot. But the Liberteens paint an entirely different picture. They claim that HUNDREDS of THOUSANDS are behind bars for smoking.

Can anyone provide any proof either way?

You are right, I was just talking about federal vs state laws against drugs.

Do you actually think the Feds are busting people for possession?

CJ, I'm not sure I ever made a "people go to prison for smoking pot" claim. In fact, if you'll look farther along in the thread you'll see that I "stood corrected". Smoking a joint in your house will get you a fine, if caught. My position is that it shouldn't even be a finable offense.

unless you were only asking for rational, credible sources

I thought we were trying to play nice. I guess not.

The answer is "Yes".

Please name ONE person sentenced for smoking pot.

Just one.

Please?

Thank you for clearing that up. You can read the entire thread and never see that claim made, at least not by me.

I know they've gone into the medical marijuana places in Kalifornia and arrested for position. The LP gov candidate a couple years ago was.

Why do you think you're entitled to a second question?

False. Kubby was sentenced for psilocybin and mescaline.

...arrested for position.

That could get sticky - no?

(Oberon - where are you?)

Wait...let me get this straight. You're seriously suggesting that because people get imprisoned for possession rather than for the act of smoking pot, smoking pot is therefore technically legal?

By the same standard, nobody has ever been imprisoned for shooting someone. Murder, yes; attempted murder, yes; aggravated assault, yes; shooting, no. Nobody's ever been charged with that.

On one is sentenced for smoking. None, not a single ONE, never.

They are sentenced for possession, cultivation, and distribution of pot.

Who claimed anyone was sentenced for just smoking?

You two goobers have an open forum and fail to show up? Kinda lame - no?

Earth to Libloather...

Apparently you have the memory span of a gnat. I showed up long ago and made several posts. Two of those posts were to you. Once again you have digressed to calling people names.

Me: A guy smokes pot and then robs a convenience store -- >voila!-- he becomes one of hundreds-of-thousands who are >in prison because they smoked pot.

You: I don't know about that, but it's a safe bet that many of these robberies are done because of a need to get money for hard (expensive) drugs. ie: Cocaine, Heroin.

Oh, of course. Nobody would ever rob or kill for marijuana. Huh-uh. Never happens. Wouldn't be prudent. Uhhhh, just curious. What constitutes a "safe bet"?

You: Not many people kill or rob solely to buy a cheap bag of marijuana, or a case of beer.

Oh? "Not many", eh? Is "not many" a sister of a "safe bet"?

You: With hard drugs, they do it all the time. But you know that, right?

Of course I do. I'm Texas Eagle.

Not searching for a second question. The question remains the same. Your answer sucked. Care to try another?

Either LL is having a ball on the family computer while the parents are out for the evening, or LL has wired an Etch-A-Sketch to the internet.

"Care to try another?" is a third question. If you know so many are incorrect answers, what is the correct answer? Do you know? Why not tell?

LOL! You sure poked a touchy libertarian nerve. The pro-potters use this "prison for a mere seed" scenario like the democraps use starving children on the GOP. And just about as truthfully. The answer to your question is obviously "no" even though the dopers just can't seem to admit it.

Revealing thread...very interesting!
