Why then, the confessional? Why not confess to the one or ones you sinned against? If the sin wasn't of a personal nature, but rather against a Holy and Just God; confess to Him; not a priest.

Forgive was a wrong word, absolution was the word I should have used.

BTW, how many "hail-marys" did your last sin cost ya? how many first Fridays? how many first Saturdays? how many rosaries?

NO, I don't really want to know. Think about it, though.
