It was my first time voting, and I come from a looong line of bleeding heart Dems, so I did what my parents did. I had ZERO understanding of politics, the world, or much of anything else.

Well, there's no rule against being a leftie around here; there are a few who hang around. You probably will catch flack for a while, though, being a leftie with a recent sign-up date (we've had a real problem with trolls, and some folks are a bit itchy with the trigger finger, so to speak), but if you can put up with that, hopefully you'll be able to stick around.
Who knows, maybe one day, you'll be a "convert". Or at the very least, enjoy some good discussion, even if you disagree with most of the folks here.

My wife and I have very good friends (best friends) who are liberal and we tease each other all the time. It's actually an amusing sight when they try to indoctrinate my kids and I teach their kids about the wonderful things about George Bush. The father of the family just came back from Washington and brought me a George Bush bobblehead. I love it. I'm thinking of putting it on my dashboard of my car! The night before he gave it to me I had to call over there asking if the bobblehead had survived running the gauntlet of the wife and kids. LOL! It's all in good humor and jest.
