My parents taught me that if someone asks for money, and you have it to give, you should give it without any expectations of ever seeing it again.

That's all well and good, but I doubt that they were telling you to throw your money down a rat hole, DUmmie.

One more time: Being compassionate is an honorable thing. Giving is an honorable thing. But these people give with NO wisdom, NO discernment, NO common sense. Why should you give to a scam artist when there might be someone else who really IS sick, really IS in need, and will go without your contribution because you chose to give to a scam artist, instead?

NO discernment,

Be careful, it's almost as if you're asking them to DISCRIMINATE! Against a known homosexual, too. That would be homophobia. The horror! They can't do that.
