According to the latest issue of Guns & Ammo magazine, the Austrian Rast & Gasser revolver is arguably the ugliest revolver ever made, yet it has redeeming technical qualities:

The Japanese gun, Nambu, was the ugliest revolver ever made.

I don't know about ugliest revolver but the UGLIEST automatic rifle has to be the Russian WWII rifle that looks more like a farm implement. I can't remember it's name but it wasn't the AK-47. The one I remember is truly UGLY.

Are you thinking of the Mosin-Nagant? While it is quite ugly, the MN is a VERY dependable rifle.

I always thought the Mauser Model 1932 was the most, butt-ugly sidearm.

Are you thinking of the Mosin-Nagant?

No. The rifle I am thinking of is MUCH uglier. Try to picture a farm implement used to dig up turnips and you get an idea of the true ugliness of the weapon I am thinking of.

Sent unarmed female officers to respond to armed robbers?

Please.

This sounds like the plotline to Robocop. Intentionally sending an officer into a bad situation without backup to get him killed so you can take advantage of the situation. In robocop, they wanted his Peter Wellers brain to reprogram as a robotic cop. In Canada, the gun grabbers want more fuel to the fire for total confiscation and banning. Their $2 billion registry has not done one whit of good for them.

--you may be thinking of the Tokarev. It may have been ugly but the few made worked--

Nope. Not the Tokarev. The one I'm thinking of is INCREDIBLY ugly. Looks more like a crude farm implement than a weapon.

Looks like a cross between a police sidearm circs 1930 and a broom handle Mauser. What the hell does the pivoting trigger gaurd do?

Nambu was a semiauto looked vaguely like a German Luger with an oddly protruding trigger guard. Chambered a very weak caliber IIRC.
