On top of that, the Reagan movie was opposed by conservative commentators and grassroots resistance. Not a single Republican "official," sitting in office or otherwise, said a word about the Reagan film. The opposition to it was entirely from The People.

Compare that to the opposition to Path: Bill Clinton, the DNC, Sandy Burglar... it was all top-down.

Oh, and on top of that, one had some political relevance and the other was a blatant smear job on a dying man.

An excellent point about the top-down stuff. One of Rush's callers put it this way: Bush called the NY Times about the terror tracking expose and said "Don't run that story, it's bad for the country." Bill Clinton called ABC and said, "Don't run that movie, it's bad for my image."
