More rain this week in South Florida! FANTASTIC! It's great how the heat of the day is completely relieved by the rain. Of course, I plan to sit outside and enjoy it all. Just sitttting in the rain!
Let me know if you want on the DUmmie FUnnies PING List.

We are headed down the slippery slope. I have a feeling that in the coming years, Americans are going to wish they had paid closer attention in History. You're much too late. We reached that tipping point in 1980, to the chants of "USA! USA! USA!" at an Olympic hockey game.

I don't even want to hear it at sporting events. Of course some people would say that this makes me unpatriotic. To which I would reply: [redacted], it just makes me nonjingoistic and nonnationalistic. Hey! Look at me! I reject any sembelence of nationalism or national pride, but don't question my patriotism!!!

Is Houston the only place that has replaced "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" with "God Bless America" (at least the last time I was at a game)? I was floored. I wouldn't stand, as it is not our national anthem. My husband was afraid I was going to get lynched.
One need not stand for either song. It is just a bit of a tradition to stand for the seventh inning stretch. That said, this nitwit would stand for Take Me Out to the Ballgame, but not God Bless America? That makes a lot of sense.

Smart business people stay out of politics... Hm... can't be good for your man Romney, PJ. I understand he's a smart businessman.

I'm tired of war-mongering, and that song is a celebration of a moment in war. Key was a pacifist who objected to the war on religious grounds. But he was still patriotic enough to write the Banner.

Felt like I was in some natzi camp getting ready for the showers. Needless to say, I voiced my opinion on the matter to the management. Told them that I was not at a sporting event, funeral, union meeting, blah blah and asked him when Wagner was scheduled. Gee, I didn't know they played The Star-Spangled Banner in Nazi camps! Live and learn! Wouldn't Wagner have been the more obvious choice, since Hitler loved Wagner? Or maybe that's what he means -- hard to tell sometimes with DUmmies!

I'm with Luis Bunuel: I don't even want to hear it at sporting events. Of course some people would say that this makes me unpatriotic. To which I would reply: bullshit, it just makes me nonjingoistic and nonnationalistic Which is the working definition of "unpatriotic".
I don't think you should have voiced your complaint. They probably just think you're a jerk, now.
Lousy FReeper troll.

Is Houston the only place that has replaced "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" with "God Bless America" The New York Yankees do "God Bless America" during every home game. Not exactly a right-wing city there.
