Currently taking wagers that Ron Paul doesn’t get over five percent in any GOP primary next year.

Ron Paul will go deep in the primaries and may even win a couple of states.

This race is between Fred Thompson and Ron Paul, a showdown between two candidates dedicated to the return of Constitutional principles and traditional Republicanism. You can kiss the other GOP candidates goodbye.

That was my aunt Thelma Lou. You’re 0 for 2. Being a a typical Paulie makes you 0 for 3. You’re out.

This was a group of the Alabama Republican Assemblies {West Alabama RA] subset of Republicans. There were 266 total votes with a $25 fee. Paul got 216 so that tells you a little of the make up of the group.

If you know the name David T. Pyne he is the national leader of this this group.

” It was accident, combined with senility in old age. “

Fair enough. It just seemed that the title would have been cut and pasted, so I couldn’t imagine how any of the rods would have changed. But not everyone does things the way I do on a computer.

“I know, of course, that you never make mistakes...so you might not understand.”

No I never make mistakes; not one. Well there was that little incident of not buying Microsoft stock with all my spare change in the early 80’s...

Take a few less bong hits and you'll make more sense.

This was a group of the Alabama Republican Assemblies

As someone who was there, I can tell you that few of the people who attended were actually members of this group. I'm certainly not. In fact, my sense that most were not evern from West Alabama. Quite a few were from Mobile. It was widely advertised as the official Republcan strawpoll and attracted folks from every corner of the state. Let me also note that several important folks from the local GOP establishment were there (most of them anti-Paul).

Look for Ron Paul to be the next Ross Perot. Running as an independent when he doesn't win in the primaries, to syphon Republican votes and hand Hillary the Presidency.

216 Paul supporters showed up in Western Alabama? Big surprise there...

That line from Charlie Daniel’s “Uneasy Rider” about “I’m a faithful follower of brother John Birch” was inspired by my beloved part of the country, Central Mississippi and Alabama...

I will leave it at that...

There was a landslide in Alabama? Was it caused by an earthquake or flash flood?

Ron Paul gets more support on DU than any conservative site I’ve seen yet.

I've heard of Ross Perot. Who's this Ron Paul person? How many boxes of cookies did he sell?

TripE you are one of my favorites. You love Fred which is way cool but then have a this crazy fixation and believe in Paul that is just incredible....

You are a true dichotomy, but in this rare case I think it is a good thing...

Love ya brother...

Apparently, [people who supported the other candidates] had something better to do, such as rearrange their sock drawer.

Or maybe, just maybe, they're waiting for the real Alabama primary, not wishing to waste their time on a "straw poll" destined to draw a mere handful of voters.

Put another way: maybe, just maybe, Dr. Paul's supporters are pretty much the only ones desperate enough to care about this pathetic little exercise.

I can't imagine Paul being that successful, but at least you're giving Fred some credit. Usually I regret the end of summer, but this year I'm looking forward to getting past Labor day.

It was a flash flood (a little man-made one). It seems 216 Ron Paul supporters wet their pants in ecstasy at exactly the same moment.
