Engaging in commerce with other countries does NOT harm our prosperity. You are espousing the myth of protectionism right there... “Putting our manufacturing base” - Ahem, in a free economy, which is the most prosperity-creating form of economy, each individual company can and should make their own decisions about jobs to create here, and about trade to engage in.
We have a record GDP, record number of jobs, and a powerful economy.
You have the view that if China advances, we cannot, when that is economic bunk.
When they are arming our enemies with the technology provided, it has absolutely NOTHING to do with “free trade”.
Keeping the technology out of our enemies arsenal...that’s not “protectionism”, that’s SURVIVAL.
