As horrible as this ruling is, it sounds like it followed the law. We’re always complaining about judges legislating from the bench. The father should be petitioning the legislature to change the law, rather than expecting judges to change law.
Legally the judges seemed to have made the right ruling, even if emotionally and logically it makes no sense.
Of course, the true tragedy is this “mother” getting only 3 years for murdering her son.
This just brings to light how screwed up our justice system is.
