You make a good point. Those blackouts hit Red states disproportionately, and the phones were out as well. If the pollster made up the Republic difference by increasing Republicans chosen from purple or blue states, then they increased the likelihood of capturing Obama Rinos or undecided Rinos.

Wait a week or so before worrying about reasons for polls. McCain had a lousy week last week. He handled the financial crisis badly and was running scared throughout most of the week. This was reflected in the national polls, which have started to rebound now that he’s found his footing again.

These state polls lag behind the national polls, so you’re bound to see some movement towards Obama before you see them get better again.
