A while back, some were questioning whether or not Obama had registered for Selective Service (the pool from which people would be drafted if the draft were re-instated here) which has been required of all males 18 or over here in the US since Jimmy Carter re-instated it back in 1980.
This was included in Matthew Weaver’s For Barack Obama: Eight Questions which was posted over on NoQuarter.
Subsequently, Bob Owens wrote Did Obama Actually Register for Selective Service? piece over on PajamasMedia that he had received EMail from a Daniel Amon at Selective Service which read:
Mr. Owens,
Barack Hussein Obama registered at a post office in Hawaii. The effective registration date was September 4, 1980.
His registration number is 61-1125539-1.
Daniel Amon
Public Affairs Specialist
This was met with both skepticism and claims that Owens was full of shit.
Since Owens had named his source, it was a rather simple matter to check it out.
