I’d suspect the old guy was either homosexual or asexual and just looking for a companion. He knew she was a he, so either he didn’t have a problem with shaking the sheets with a guy or he didn’t have sex anymore, and married the transsexual just to have someone that would visit with him.

That surname is infamous in Ohio history to say the least. 1. We had the "Copperhead" Democrat from Dayton. He was convicted of sedition and shipped to Tennessee during the Civil War. He later fatally shot himself, trying to prove how a man had fatally shot himself.
2. There was also the Lucasville Prison CO who was tragically murdered during the prison riot / takeover of 1993.
