Chicago Tribune columnist Clarence Page softened the MSM’s portrayal of 9/12 protesters as vile racists Monday night to suggest another possibility: they may be ignoramuses. David Shuster, filling in for Keith Olbermann on MSNBC’s Countdown, continually baited Page to quantify precisely how “bigotry was fueling this” protest. Clarence Page replied “it’s sad” that, while some of the protesters may be “nutcases”:
A lot of these folks, though, are just plain workaday people, who, uh — I bet a poll would show half of them didn’t know what socialism was, but they know it’s not good and they’re afraid of it, and this is a way to come together with like-minded people. I — I actually feel sorry for them that they aren’t a little better informed.
Page’s condescension toward “just plain workaday people” should be enshrined in the hearts of every American between Farifax and Oakland. I’m surprised all those media types like these don’t drown when they go out in the rain. What with keeping their snippety nose’s all up in the air the way they do.
good post.

Fox has proven there is a market out there....
Yeah, Clarence knows.... He has a degree in STUPID.
On DU they like to go on about how much “evolved” and “enlightened” they are. Maybe in another generation they will evolve into beings of light and freepers will walk standing up.
This from people whose leader thinks the Bill of Rights is a set of negative rights...
I may be just a warehouse monkey working 8:00-4:30 but I know a lot more about how the world works and a whole lot more about the economics of health care than these arrogant jerkwads. They mistake their own ideology of socialism based bumper sticker slogans for genuine knowledge and look down their noses at the people who make the country work.
If they keep this up, November of 2010 is going to be a bloodbath.
Oh, so that's it, that's the reason for their self-loathing and guilt. They just care toooo much. /sarc
Puh-lease. They're not better than anyone, they just like everyone to think they are.
