Italian American group UNICO National has denounced Jersey Shore -- MTV's latest entry into the reality genre which premieres Dec. 3 -- as "trash television" for its "crude stereotypes and highlights cursing, bad behavior and violence in depicting renters at a New Jersey beach house" as reported by The Associated Press. In the promotional trailer below the cast is described as the "hottest, tannest, craziest Guidos" who "keep their hair high, their muscles juiced and their fists pumping all summer long!"

Live in Jersey, go to the “Shore” often and have rented Shore houses with friends in the past. I am deeply offended by this MTV show. . .deeply offended that they did not do this sooner and share with the rest of the nation the sex crazed, drunken, over hairstyled, over dressed (or under depending on the day), over steroided crapola that infests what otherwise would be the finest of beaches. (As an aside, amongst this crowd is Spitzer’s hooker who hangs out in one of the top Guido night spots.)
It got so bad that the mayor of one town shut down all the Guido bars and openly told whoever would listen that the Guidos where there and he wanted them to go home.
I will, however, say this. Not all the beaches along the New Jersey Shore are infested. There are many wonderful and beautiful beaches. But always, always they live under the threat and shadow of the Guido invasion.
Last year we rented in Bethany Beach, DE and loved it. Worth the extra 90 minute drive.

Yes indeed, this is where I used to rent. It was a fun place to be 20-30 something. The Guido sightings were fewer and farther between down there. No, it was not until I migrated Northwards that I ran into the invasion.
