HotAir.com undermines Tea Party movement, supports big GOP in Mass.

HotAir is a big voice in the conservative blogsophere and has done much to advance the cause of those wishing to stop and reverse the growth of a large central government. Unfortunately Hot Air's Ed Morrissey has brashly thrown his weight behind Scott Brown in the Massachusetts special election. This is disturbing and disheartening for every tea party, small government loving soul in America. While I certainly cannot blame casual Massachusetts Republicans for getting excited over Brown's possible win over Martha Coakley, it becomes much harder to justify it in the case of Ed whose life revolves around politics and whose message is fundamentally Jeffersonian.

In a piece called Where is the national GOP in the Massachusetts special election Ed shows his frustration over the apparent lack of support for Brown, correctly pointing out that in NY-23 the GOP heavily contributed to the liberal Dede while throwing Hoffman under the bus. While Brown is obviously no Dede he is a far cry from the mantra of HotAir: small government and fiscal responsibility. Oddly and most puzzling of all, Ed writes:

I just read his blog.

He’s a Joe Kennedy supporter.

Kennedy’s the libertarian in the race who’s polling at about .0001% and is Coakley’s useful idiot.

That’s your biggest complaint, yet I rattled off an entire list of SPENDING that Brown voted for, does that mean you are ok with that? Are you a liberal troll?

Why should anyone be trusted who is a Code Pinko, pro-Palestinian state, environmentalist, leftist? Healthcare isn’t the only issue right now, but with Kennedy’s record on other issues, there is no indication I would trust him to move right on that one. Brown isn’t perfect, but he is heads and tails above the embarrassment to libertarians (claims to be one but had to run as an independent instead of Libertarian because even they wouldn’t have him).

You are the epitome of what is wrong with this two party system. Hell, you did not even bother reading the post and move to ad hominem attacks. How very sad...

Fwiw, I have written plenty about Ron Paul’s idiotic anti-war policy - so screw you.

The Libertarians are the Democrat’s best friend.

They play lets pretend the IslamOfascists did not attack America and declare war on us.

This guy was too over the edge even for Libertarians.

You do not have to support Kennedy, it’s just an option. The point of the article (had you bother to read it) was to question support for Brown.

*sigh*

There are a lot of good conservatives here at FreeRepublic who are very upset that the national Republicans aren’t throwing a lot more money at this race.

Those of us who ARE concerned should be sending money ourselves.

Considering a Brown victory would break the Dems super-majority, it is definitely a race worth investing in.

Well, who in the hay do you support? Man, Scott Brown looks great to me compared to a Kennedy liberal. I am conservative and anti-RINO, but this strikes me as ridiculous.

I donated to this race. Brown is our only chance. Shall we have Alan Keyes parachute in again and win 12 percent of the vote?

Now that I’ve seen more, this is even more ridiculous. Scott Brown would break the Dems’ 60-vote majority and SCARE THE HELL OUT OF THEM, probably helping stop amnesty to illegal aliens, and do I understand that you want some libertarian named Joe Kennedy. PLEASE SHOW SOME POLITICAL INSIGHT AND SAVVY. WE NEED TO STOP THE DEMS, NOT SELF-DESTRUCT.

Which is why I've sent as much as I could, and I encourage every Freeper with an interest in saving this country from the Democrats tyranny to do the same.

There's a time to bitch, and a time to put one's money where their mouth is. Brown may not be the perfect 100% Conservative candidate, but I'll take a 90% Conservative over a 100% Bleeding Heart Liberal Socialist/Marxist/Commie Bastard any day of the week.

Put up or shut up Freepers. The time to bitch and whine is over.

My money is on the latter choice... look at sign up date... anyone wanting a Kennedy of any ilk raises questions in my mind.

Brown is a consistent reliable conservative! Am I personally even more conservative, maybe, but there aren’t too many who are. It is vitally important that Scott Brown is elected. If the tea party movement is about de-railing candidates like Brown, then count me OUT. He is miles away from any Scozafava-like candidate. Give me a break.

If you want to actually advance conservatism, then help Scott Brown win. PM me to find out how.
